Society for Environment and Sustainable Development
Let^s achieve Sustainable Development Goals
The sustainable development goals which are also called? global goals were adopted by all the United Nations Member States in 2015 to finish the inequalities in the society and for that they have prepared 17 goals which are called the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The SDGs framework has goals and sub-goals in the form of targets which are to be fulfilled by 2030. To measure the progress each target has some indicator. The sustainable development goals goals are designed to bring the social harmony, and evils in the society. The SDGs can be achieved when all sections of the society contribute in the form of taking action to bring social, economic and environmental changes as suggested by the Agenda 2030 SDG Framework. It requires active participation of international organisations like United Nations, all countries and its governments, civil society and of course the people who are there with them.
Youth and adults for sustainable development
The 4th goal of sustainable development is to increase the amount of youth and adults who have relevant skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship. This goal comes under the broader topic which is quality education.?The entire world is fighting to overcome the problem of illiteracy since 2000 and to several extent they got a success to gain higher literacy rate by providing education to children irrespective of their gender, race, and income.?In order to improve the quality and competency of youth the Agenda 2030 suggested a programme called Technical and Vocational Education and Training for all the youths of the world.
What is TVET ?
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is education and training which provides knowledge and skills for employment by formal, non- formal, informal learning. It is also considered to be a crucial vehicle of social equity, inclusion and sustainable development. It serves multiple purposes and one of it’s key purposes is preparation of youth for work. Students are taught about scientific knowledge as well as vocational skills. It often includes self - employment and entrepreneurship training programmes.
From a development point of view, TVET facilitates economic growth by increasing the productivity of workers. It also facilitates socio - economic development by enhancing the capacity of individuals to adopt practices that are socially worthwhile. It aims to develop the broad range of personal capabilities that characterize an educated person. The provision for broad based knowledge seeks to ensure critic- creative thinking. It also ensures to develop capacities for effective communication and effective interpersonal relations. It also helps in personal development and emancipation.

To cope with evolving skill demand, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems are used as a new pathway to learning, setting - up innovative initiatives and programmes, and developing new partnerships. The main objective is to help the young people for their personal development and changing the world of work through strengthening the capacity of TVET. The Education for All (EFA) has been started all over the world with an idea of spreading the impact of TVET in every sector.
ICT for youth
Increasing the rate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) among youth and adults. There is a need to include the technical educational skills in the curriculum of academics. It will not only help the adults to learn new skills but also make them a better aspirant for any job areas. Information and communication technology (ICT) is an important sector of life. It drives towards the change in global economy, creating opportunities for innovation, new products and entrepreneurship. We need to prepare youth for the upcoming challenges and we have to make them “digitally literate”.
Digital literacy is a prerequisite for every job field. As most of the things are carried out via digital mode only we need to train people, and for that we require some experts who can teach them, especially in schools as we are going to witness a?vast number of youth in upcoming years. We need people who can teach?children from the basics and can make them masters in this field. First we need to include it in the curriculum and then we can move forward. These courses will teach them to communicate, store, create, spread and manage information and communication tools.
For increasing the use of technology first we have to convey this to people?that?by what way this can help them, and after imparting this information we have to encourage and motivate them to take part in these programmes. After that we have to start training them and by performing? this loop again and again we can reach up to the desired target. For improving the ratio of youth and adults we need to include this in their school curriculum where they can learn from their teachers and for that we need digitally literate teachers also. And those teachers who are already employed should be given training of information and communication technology (ICT) for better understanding and usage of digital facilities, and by doing this they can help themselves only. ? Also those kids who could not manage to go to schools and are now in a search of employment should be given training for these technical and communication skills. By doing all these we can make our youth a better achiever as well as deserving for the employment areas, and this will improve the employment for youth and gradually the economic sector will also be improve.?
ICT brings a massive change in the field of education and makes teaching - learning process more effective and interesting. It can also be considered as a sub field of education technology. It can totally change the way of learning in the coming times and can make a better use of technology.?By improving TVET and ICT skills we can improve and achieve our main goal which is quality education (SDG 4). And this will help? in development of other goals as well?and we will reach the target by 2030.
