Preparing a Superhero

Preparing a Superhero

Today I put on the table an issue to which the organizations have not given the necessary relevance. It is time to delve into the effects that the elaboration of a good Development Plan causes on our Leaders. A recent IBM study ibm.co/3xzvOCc tells us the following: The best-performing organizations build their success by training staff in their assigned roles. And these pieces of training are the ones that emerge from an intelligent development plan that guides the staff to achieve the business objectives.

In recent months I have had the opportunity to dialogue with several executives from different industries and I have been able to realize that there is a gap in the knowledge of the benefits that the installation of a good Development Plan entails.

A good Development Plan promotes the organization's strategy in the short, medium, and long term, the bosses take over the growth of their Collaborators, and the organizational structure is strengthened.

One of these executives told me that they recently brought together their management team and drew up development plans for a group of Collaborators that they call High Potentials. The strange thing is that these collaborators did not participate in the elaboration of them. From my point of view, this does not make sense, how not to involve those who will give life to this plan? Interventions of this type bring us excessive costs and inefficient training.

A good Development Plan is the result of a Boss - Collaborator interaction where both analyze the Managerial Skills in High and Low Effectiveness in the Collaborator and seek to reach an agreement related to the causes, in this way they can find alternative solutions that are reflected in a Plan. It is not an easy task, but the protagonist is the Collaborator, and the boss should only act as a Coach or guide.

There are 4 essential premises that will put us on the path to preparing a Superhero.

1.????Diagnose First: Our focus should be on those positions that have a direct contribution to the strategy, the elaboration of diagnoses, and assessments, and 360 will provide the necessary information so that the Boss - Collaborator can have inputs for the plan.

2.????Do not abandon the rest of the Collaborators: The rest of the collaborators are also essential for the organization, let's use ranking systems, surveys, etc., and dialogues with the Leaders. Let's be clear, this process should not be exclusive to a few.

3.????Implement an effective methodology to create Development Plans: The diagnoses provide us with valuable information for decision-making, you must show interest in designing intelligent ways of handling this information, remember that this process affects the Collaborator's personal and work future, the result of the diagnosis alone is only a reference. 4.????Don't forget about monitoring: It is vitally important to install a monitoring system that guarantees the achievement of these plans. It is very common to start with a lot of energy and suddenly the system fails, and the results remain in the air. Let's assign a good follow-up plan and the consequences of non-compliance.

I wish you an excellent week and remember that I am at your service for any questions or contributions. I hope you enjoyed this reading, and it leads you to move into action.

See you soon.?
