Preparing Students for a Successful Future

Have you heard about the Texas College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM)? They're open enrollment programs that are designed to give a helping hand to historically underserved and at-risk students.

What's cool about these programs is that they blend high school and college coursework. This means that students not only get to develop their technical skills, but they also have the opportunity to earn college credentials and degrees while in high school! Talk about a head start, right?

The CCRSM programs are all about preparing students for in-demand career paths. They want to make sure that every student has the chance to pursue a rewarding career after graduation. The CCMR rating is calculated based on a variety of factors, including student performance on standardized tests, college enrollment rates, and career readiness indicators.

District administrators who want to increase their CCMR rating can focus on the following areas:

• Improve student performance on standardized tests. This can be done by providing students with high-quality instruction, aligned to the state standards, and by providing students with opportunities to practice taking standardized tests.
• Increase college enrollment rates. This can be done by providing students with college counseling, offering college preparatory courses, and making financial aid information available to students and families.
• Improve career readiness indicators. This can be done by offering career and technical education programs, providing students with opportunities to participate in internships, and helping students to develop their resume writing and interviewing skills.

On top of that, they can even achieve education credentials such as Level 1 and Level 2 postsecondary certificates, and even associate degrees.

P-TECH students get hands-on experience through work-based experiential learning. From career-based practicum courses to internships, they're fully immersed in real-world scenarios at every grade level.
