Preparing People in Prison For Success
Earning Freedom books and digital products inspire people in prison to begin preparing for success. Don't take my word for it. Look at the letter Alexandre Zurita, a man serving a term in prison, took the time to write.
Rather than describe what Mr. Zurita wrote, I will type out his words:
Mr. Santos,
My name is Alexadre Zurita. For the bad decisions I made, I'm now serving a 15-year state sentence in Texas. Writing has never been my strong point. Rest assured, it is a work in progress.
I currently have two years done on my sentence with the possibility of parole in 2021. In these last two years I had made significant gains in many areas. The problem has been a lack or organized direction. After reading your books Triumph and Earning Freedom, I can honestly say I know I am on the right path. If it wasn't for your work I don't know where I would be.
I've earned two disciplinary cases in two years for fighting. Right when this last one happened fate had intervened and my mother sen me a copy of Triumph. The day I read that is the day I got my bearing back.
At 6'-2", 230, I stand as a large guy who fears nothing but God and his mother. But on that day I sat around 52 men crying as I read page after page.
Upon introspection I was absolutely devastated at what I saw. You showed me that what I saw was not immutable. In fact, the journey to change would serve as a defining factor in who I truly am. This short time has allowed me to develop prudence and veracity in what i do. Your plan, the right plan, has a myriad of possibilities that are not ephemeral.
It is scary when you realize how easy it is to fall victim to the institutional ways. Moving forward I am pursuing a degree in exercise physiology. By the time I leave and two college trades--AC/HVAC and Electrical. The exercise science and biomechanics are all self taught.
You planted the idea in my head about a support network and I have my goals clearly defined. Mr. Santos, you gave me support and guidance through your writing. I am so very thankful for what you have done. If I could hug you I would!
One last thing. I never gave too much thought as to how hard this has been for my loved ones. Because of you and your story, my change has begun.
Sincerely, your study, Alexandre Zurita
