Earlier, we discussed what it means to be an ideal candidate, right? Well, it doesn’t stop at crafting a suitable CV. The real marathon has several more steps to tackle. Let’s say you’ve done a great job and caught the attention of a recruiter—what’s next? Should you simply dress professionally and show up for the meeting? Or is there more to it?
Based on my experience, many candidates overlook the importance of thoroughly researching the company they’ve applied to or the person they’ll be meeting.
It’s crucial for a qualified candidate to feel confident during the interview, which often lasts 45–60 minutes and includes multiple stages. Preparation is the key. Be ready to introduce yourself in a concise and structured way, ideally within 15 minutes, while focusing on the most relevant points. Remember, as we mentioned in a previous article, recruiters primarily focus on the information they’re looking for.
Equally important is preparing thoughtful questions about the role and the company. A two-way conversation is always more engaging than a one-sided monologue. While the dynamics of an interview might not always be in your control, being proactive is essential. Demonstrate your interest and motivation for the role, just as you did when preparing your CV.
That said, some candidates lose momentum when the recruitment process takes longer than expected. This is especially common in international recruitment, which can involve several months and up to 4–5 interviews. It’s your responsibility as a candidate to maintain your motivation and enthusiasm throughout the process.
While there’s much more to discuss, the key takeaway is this: keep yourself attractive to the company. Leave them with the impression that you are the one!

2 个月This is a great reminder that being an ideal candidate goes beyond just having a strong CV. Thorough research about the company and the interviewers, clear self-presentation, and proactive engagement during the interview process are all crucial. It’s not just about answering questions—it's about maintaining enthusiasm and motivation throughout the entire process, especially when the recruitment timeline is long. The takeaway? Stay confident, stay engaged, and ensure the company knows you’re genuinely interested and the right fit for the role!
