Preparing for BACP updated senior accredited membership (column C)

As the new SCoPEd framework is being introduced, we’re faced with the decision of whether to pursue the updated senior accredited membership (column C) - a path I’ve chosen to embark on.
Did you realise that only 2.3% of BACP’s 49K members hold the title of Senior Accredited Registered Member, putting us at a total of approximately 1,127 members!
Having guided peers and supervisees through their own accreditation journeys, I’m aware of the challenges this process can present. I still remember my own accreditation application over 20 years ago!
As I gear up for this transition, I thought it might be helpful to share my application process with colleagues, to help demystify the process of submission through BACP . Hopefully, my approach can provide some inspiration to others in similar situations.

1.??? Understanding the task: I have started by reading all the documents regarding the transition to column C, making notes of my thoughts, questions, and looking up information on BACP website as well as the SCoPEd framework itself.
2.??? Preparation: In the current absence of an application form, I’ve transferred all the headings to a Word document.
3.??? Reflection: At present, I’m contemplating how to effectively meet the criteria, jotting down possible examples. As I was writing I noticed that more examples were coming up – so I might end up with a lot more that I need there, drafting and redrafting until I think I have answered the question. From experience, I know that what matters is that I start writing at this point, as this will refine as I progress. I consciously avoid fretting over the quality at this stage to prevent stifling my creativity.
4.??? Collaboration: I have contacted a colleague to buddy up and support each other through this process. We plan to use each other as sounding boards and share our applications prior to submission, and we have had our first chat to talk through different points.

10 个月This is extremely helpful. Like you I recall the pain and in my case procrastination of my accreditation process. I have been sitting with, 'do I even embark on this process at this stage in my career?!' I look forward to hearing your thoughts on your process as it unfolds.
