Be prepared
Be prepared
By now, it's clear that obese patients are much more affected by Corona than others. Their risks of developing COVID-19, going to intensive care and eventually dying is much higher.
If we take this analogy to the corporate world, the same will apply to which companies will survive the post-corona recession.
No doubt that agile, embracing change and flexible companies will be much better in coping with the new world order than large, obese and slow moving organisations.
Don't make a mistake here. Agile does not mean lean. If you are too skinny, you might not be fit enough to tackle this battle. Well prepared means preparing for whatever the challenge may be. Especially in VUCA times. Whether it’s a short sprint or a long marathon. We need to prepare like special forces prepare to deal with whatever situation they encounter. We need to be ready. Always. Both mentally and physically. And we need to prepare our organisations to do just the same.
7 years ago I learned that if you want to lead change and others, you need to start with yourself.
Today I can’t imagine how I would cope with all this without a good run, a healthy diet and a positive mindset. For the record: this does not mean that I don't have moments of doubt or worry about the future. The difference is that I feel reassured that I come as prepared as I can be and there is absolutely nothing that I could have done more.
And that's exactly what any organisation should be doing or should start doing… become agile, trained and well prepared. Shake off the fat, grow more muscles and beat this thing.
