Prepare Your High-Power Charging Test Equipment for the EV Fast Charging Mainstream
In recent years, supercharging and high-power charging (HPC) for electric vehicles (EVs) have become increasingly popular. The industry defines HPC as 350kW/1000V/500A, while the fast charging standard ChaoJi, implemented by China and Japan, has a maximum charging specification of 900kW/1500V/600A. For example, the super-charging specifications introduced by Tesla and Porsche are able to reach over 250kW, which means an increase in range of over 100km with only 5 minutes of HPC charging.
Fast charging has clearly become the mainstream for charging in the EV market. However, to achieve high-power charging, important issues such as battery materials, thermal management technology, and grid load cannot be overlooked, especially in the early stages of product development and mass production such as safety testing, interoperability testing, heat dissipation mechanisms, and meter testing.
Chroma's EVSE automated test system, paired with the regenerative high-power Chroma 61800 grid simulator (up to 840kVA) and Chroma 17040 battery simulator (up to 600kW), offers a customized HPC test solution. Users can select the suitable EV or EVSE simulator for each DC charging standard (CCS, CHAdeMO, GB/T, ChaoJi) and configure the EV & EVSE 2-in-1 high-power charging test platform according to their test requirements. The automated test system includes automatic power switching and over temperature and over current protection mechanisms to meet the scalability and safety needs of high-power testing applications further down the line.
