Prepare for More Semiconductor Disruptions

A year ago, no one would have predicted that Chinese #semiconductor technology would be nipping at American heels and that Intel would be an acquisition target. Yet, here we are.
China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) hasn’t reached the cutting edge where NVIDIA and other Western firms play, but it has closed the gap despite U.S. sanctions designed to keep the best chips out of Chinese hands. As our Cambrian Futures Board of Advisers member Paul Triolo told the New York Times, “You can’t really underestimate their [China’s] ability to doggedly pursue overcoming the other obstacles.”
Meanwhile, 英特尔 , the once untouchable CPU titan, stumbled and left its chips out of step with the explosion of AI systems. Once on the prowl for acquisitions, it now has become a target, according to the Wall Street Journal, which reported Friday that 高通 approached Intel executives with an offer.?
What would this mean for your product roadmaps? With the semiconductor industry as the primary #Geotech battleground, these sorts of headlines will become more common. Companies that rely on the semiconductor value chain — which includes most organizations in one way or another — should have scenarios and strategies ready for the inevitable disruption to come. 英伟达
