So you've landed a job interview and are nervous about clearing it, follow the below guide and you shall be able to answer your interviewer's questions
1. Research the organization
Go to the website of the organization and try to gain as much information you can from About us, Vision, Mission, Values, Projects, etc. Check company reviews on websites like Glassdoor, Ambition Box, LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. You can also Google the company name to check reviews posted by previous or existing employees and clients. Check Financial Health from Investor Relations page on the company website or on Moneycontrol or similar websites. Even googling about financials for a company will help.
2. Prep the possible questions – and their answers
Read and re-read the job description for the role in question, it should give you a fair idea about what kind of questions could be asked about your abilities & experience. Make a list of the possible questions and jot down their answers, no need to be exact as the interviewer would be testing your knowledge and skills. Interview is not all knowledge & skills but also a screening of your personality, share your hobbies or interests that are relevant with the interviewer. It’s all of these things combined that will help to demonstrate why you are a good match for the job.
3. Research career progression and training opportunities
The role itself is one thing, but by broadening your research out a bit into how the role fits within the team or the company, this will give you a good understanding of what path you could possibly take within the business. This shows you’re thinking long-term and seriously about the role and it will also help you respond appropriately to questions about your future plans or ideal career progression, relating directly back to the company you are applying to.
4. Think of the questions you’d like to ask
During your research, you may have come across certain queries about the company, the owner/founder/CMD, the business, etc. Write them out as clear questions for the interviewer. This will help avoid awkward silence, when asked to put forth any questions you may have.
5. Mock interview
Practice interview in front of a mirror or with friends/family as this will help ease some of the nervousness and will be a huge help on the big day.
6. Revise through the notes
Its always better to go through the notes before going for the interview.
