Prepare For Departure

If you have ever been on an airplane, you have heard the pilot say, "Flight attendants, prepare for departure". And that got me thinking. We are the flight attendants of our lives. So what does that mean? It means that we should take the necessary steps to ensure we have a good departure.?
Death. That is the departure that I am talking about today. For no particular reason, other than I have watched entirely too many people leave this planet unprepared. Working in mental health for my entire life, I am still baffled?of the lack of planning on our parts. As though we are going to live forever. I get this line of thinking if you're young. But as we get older, we should have learned a few things. And the biggest, is that this all comes to an end.?
While I think it is important to have your house in order financially, today I am talking about leaving this planet with a full heart. Did you love enough? Do the people you know, know? How much time have we wasted on shit that doesn't matter? This is one of the biggest things that I hear from someone on their way out. The need to be right. Holding onto petty resentments. Let me say this again. It all comes to an end.?

I am guilty of this too. Now pushing 60, I am keenly aware of what truly matters. And to me, all that matters is love. And if we can't feel love towards each other, may we at least feel peace. Of all the things people talk about when they are dying, regret is among the top. So stop. There is no room for hate on this journey. I believe that everything can be forgiven. I refuse to go out with hate in my heart.?
As we prepare for our departure, what do we want to leave behind? A few dollars for the family is good. But how about a lifetime of "I love you?" Time is the only real currency. And love is the measure of it. Everything else is just clutter. Your departure is coming. Travel lite. Pack only love.?
