Morecambe Bay Foodbank receives donation from Premierline team

Premierline is committed to working with local charities to help provide support and engagement. Our vast and diverse team are always willing to go the extra mile for local charities like?Morecambe Bay Foodbank?who provide a vital service to people in need in the Lancaster and Morecambe areas.

In early Q2, we committed two substantial food donations to the foodbank, one consisting of 100 easter eggs which were given out to families ahead of the easter holidays, and a second donation consisting of essential supplies such as tinned foods, dried foods, toiletries, sanitary products, cereals, sweets, chocolates and more. These donations will be used to help provide a lifeline to people in need in the local area, a problem that is only being worsened by the ongoing cost of living crisis. With more and more people in need of vital services like the foodbank, it’s more important than ever before that local businesses like Premierline recognise their social responsibility to do what they can to help.

That’s why we’ve now taken steps to provide a permanent food donation point for staff to use in our offices, making it even easier for the team here at Premierline to donate a couple of items each month from their grocery shopping.

Summer food appeal

Ahead of what the foodbank team are expecting to be a very busy summer season, we’re now appealing to our team and other local businesses to help encourage food donations of some urgently needed items, a list which includes products that the foodbank generally likes to include in food parcels over the warmer months:

o??Angel delight and powdered desserts

o??Sponge puddings

o??Sweets

o??Fruit juice

o??Fruit cordial

o??Tinned fruit in juice

o??Tinned meat (corned beef, ham etc)

Uniform project

In addition to providing food parcels and a wider signposting service, Morecambe Bay Foodbank also run a Uniform Project where local families can get help with school uniform. This project runs at full steam during the summer months to ensure that local children have everything they need ahead of the new school year starting in September.

The foodbank accepts donations of new and gently used school uniform items, this means garments must be clean and free from stains, rips, tears or frayed edges. The Uniform Project are happy to accept new socks and undergarments to give out with referrals – something Premierline aims to focus our appeal on over the coming months.

“The Uniform Project has seen a steady increase in demand since its inception. Current living conditions mean we are now expecting this service to be more vital than ever before. We’d like to pass our personal thanks on to Premierline for their support with both food donations, and help appealing for garments to assist with the Uniform Project this year.”

Continuing our commitment to help Morecambe Bay Foodbank

Over the coming months we will continue to promote our internal food donation points to allow all members of the Premierline team to easily donate food items and clothing items in support of the Uniform Project. In addition to this, we also hope to continue to run internal events to improve engagement and allow members of the team to visit the foodbank premises when delivering the donations collected from the office.

Visiting the premises and speaking with the foodbank staff directly has provided a very eye-opening experience for members of our team so far, who have all been both impressed and overwhelmed with the sheer scale of the foodbank's operation – hearing stories from those who work right at the heart of it.
