The development of ALL NEW Jet Thruster Micro for pleasure craft up to 30ft has been finalized and after an extensive test and certifying program, we are proud to introduce our latest development at the Boot Dusseldorf show 2023!

We're Market Ready!

Warning: This is a long article, but I promise you: It's worth reading it if you are dealing with Bow Thrusters for Small Pleasure craft!

But lets go back first. A few years ago, the idea of merging a Directional valve with a centrifugal pump head was a topic in our engineering team. Our thought was to have a simplified, small pump unit in addition to the existing Jet Thruster systems in our product range. The idea of having an ultra-small pump unit, with IP proof enclosure with a powerful thrust output was born. Products are being developed upon market demand, and we did not want to develop a product to solve a non existing problem.

The Market of pleasure boats is ready for equipment and accessories that enable great docking experiences for boat owners

Based upon thorough research and discussion with our reselling partners, we could clearly see the demand for very small thruster products with an IP enclosure especially (Gasoline engine areas) for the American Market where 90% of existing boats are trailerable boats. A very large market indeed.

How great it is for boat builders to keep adding equipment and features to make the difference, to be able to design a more easy to maneuver boat. Fierce competition makes that (like the Automotive industry) boats have luxury packages with all kind of features. In the end, a boat is a boat, and you need to dock it. Less experienced boaters know: Docking can be tricky. A Jet Thruster Micro makes it so much easier to "park" your boat. Preventing scratches or worse, damage is crucial. Paint, Gelcoat antifouling, all very expensive to damage during an unattended moment where there was just that little extra wind that ruined the day.

SO WHAT DOES A JET THRUSTER MICRO OFFERS THE BOAT-BUILDING INDUSTRY?

And this is where I start my elevator pitch what the new product includes:

Pump Position:

The advantages over conventional thruster systems translate into various technical benefits our competitors cannot offer: One crucial benefit is the fact the pump position can be anywhere inside the boat. Where a traditional tunnel thruster can only be in the bow, the Micro can be placed anywhere inside the boat. This allows engineers a much more flexible setup and design of their boat

IP cover:

Because the DC motor and electrical parts are placed in a vertical setup, we were able to create an ISO 8846-certified enclosure. This is a mandatory certification that allows the unit to be placed in gasoline engine areas (Engine bay or near fuel tanks) The American market for pleasure boats is using gasoline power as standard. This makes a Jet Thruster Micro suitable for the USA Boat Building industry without any problem

Safe Product, no moving parts

We make use of a Centrifugal Pump concept. This means the power is coming from an impeller inside the pump casing. Therefore, there is no need for a big tunnel in the bow or stern of the boat. Because there is an inlet filter present in the thru-hull, no debris, lines or plastic can enter the pump. In addition, hands/feet or marine life cannot be hurt by moving parts. Great for safety!

Impeller / Power

Inside the pump, a Casted, machined, and Balanced, Closed-Centrifugal impeller is the driving force behind the high flow rate. This system operated with High flow and low pressure. Just compare it with a Jetski, basically, a large pump however with an axial flow, whereas a Jet Thruster Micro works with a Centrifugal pump design.

We choose to work with high-quality products and parts only. That is why a Stainless impeller is present. The majority of other bow thruster products in this thrust range use plastic propellors which are very vulnerable, and can easily have a blade snap off when catching some debris. A Jet Thruster Micro impeller however is indestructible for in-water present debris. A: It cannot enter the pump due to the above show water inlet filter. B: When plants and other parts enter thru the openings, it can pass the impeller design AND it will be shredded and processed

OEM AND DIY friendly product

Very often we (We are the product manufacturer) are in contact with buyers of new boats. Like building a new house, many variables, products and setups can be chosen from the options lists the boat builders offer. Often the Bow Thruster is present, but very often the buyer realizes Jet Thruster is a step ahead of the conventional thruster products and offers specific benefits. We, therefore, developed this product with a dual strategy: OEM Friendly, DIY Friendly for Aftermarket install. A huge market.

The Complete package must be OEM Friendly. A complete product, ready to install out of the box. Fast, Easy, Economic. No Fiberglassing / epoxy work required. With great OEM packages, we can tailor-made the set, ready for the production process. We understand product and installation of OEM Staff/technicians is crucial. The easier, the better. A Jet Thruster Micro requires LOW tech installation capabilities at the production line. Just 3 holes to be drilled. Connection of pump and nozzles are no different from any other thru-hull. Done a million times.

We understand not every boat owner is interested in installing technical products. Therefore we kept the installation process as simple as possible. We even included the correct hole saw set inside the set. We can truly state that installing a truster product to a boat has never been easier

Commercial

The global boating industry was not able to attend any boat show during the Covid pandemic. We too as a company could not attend the Boot Dusseldorf show (World biggest indoor boat show) for two years in a row.

We used the pandemic-time to develop this New Product, and we also used that time to build a full functional Estore where our Distributors / Dealers and the Consumer can easily purchase our products. Unprecedented: Very few competitors are as transparent and accessible as our company Holland Marine Parts. We like to reach the OEM AND DIY at the same time. This allows a Push and Pull marketing strategy.
