Premier League Match Day 12 preview
Everything appears to be going Liverpool's way this season. During the last week, the Reds twice looked to be on the verge of defeat before clawing their way to victory. The first was during their Carabao Cup win against Arsenal on penalties after Divock Oirgi scored with the final kick of the game to make the scores 5-5.
Aston Villa led Jurgen Klopp's side for majority of their League game on Saturday before Andrew Robertson equalized during the 87th minute and Sadio Mane struck the winner during second half stoppage time.
The League's top scorer Jamie Vardy scored his tenth goal of the season to help third place Leicester City to a 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace.
Chelsea continued their good form by recording a fifth consecutive League victory against Watford. Tammy Abraham scored the opener early on before Christian Pulisic also scored for the second consecutive game. The Hornets remain the only side in the English top-flight who have yet to win a game this season. They find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table and already six points adrift of safety even though the season is still very young. One could argue that Watford should already start preparing for life in the Championship next season.
Manchester United's woes continues as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth with United's former youth player Joshua King scoring the only goal of the game. The defeat leaves the once mighty Red Devils consigned to tenth place on the League standings with 13 points after 11 games.
Out of form Everton and Tottenham played out to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon. The Lilywhites looked on course for a morale boosting victory before Cenk Tosun rescued a point for the Toffees with virtually the last kick of the game. Spurs are consigned to 11th place, behind United on goal difference while Everton are in 17th position and three points clear of the relegation zone.
Disturbingly for United, Everton and Spurs, Sheffield United who were promoted to the top-flight last season are in sixth position with 16 points after 11 games. Chris Wilder's side are playing with plenty of spirit and are performing admirably so far considering that they have had to budget with very limited resources as compared to most other Premier League sides.
There is no doubt that the highlight of Match Day 12 of the Premier League season will be Manchester City's clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. The Citizens head into the clash six points behind Jurgen Klopp's side. A victory for either side will be a huge statement though a defeat for City allow Liverpool to stroll to the title this season.
Two other interesting games will be Leicester's City's clash against Arsenal at the King Power Stadium on Saturday as well as Tottenham's clash with Sheffield United on Saturday. Arsenal's defending has been shambolic so far this season and it remains to be seen whether it will be able to contain the likes of Vardy, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.
On paper Spurs have a good chance to return to winning ways against the Blades but considering that Wilder's side have so far been playing with a lot of heart, it could be a good game.
