According to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Statistics), we, women, are almost 52% of the Brazilian population. We are also the mothers of men, the other 48% of the country's inhabitants. We head around 40% of households and are responsible for 80% of the consumer decisions of our so mixed and uneven Brazil.
We represent the diversity of gender, race, ethnicity, social class, age, biotype, religion and disability, among many other elements that form our people, our nation and affect the guarantee of our human rights in a different way.
We are white, black, brown and indigenous. We represent various ethnic groups. We are lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, "queer", intersex and asexual. We are women with and without disabilities. We are fat and thin. We are old and young. We are poor and rich. We have the capacity to and work in all kinds of professions, in any area of knowledge - exact sciences, human or biological and we already represent 56% of people enrolled in universities.
We are or were the first home of every human being on planet Earth. Still, we seem invisible. Why?
Because we continue to reproduce a patriarchal, hierarchical, prejudiced, archaic, outdated, unsustainable, profoundly and inhumanly unequal system, where an elite of white, heterosexual and without any apparent disability men, occupies the vast majority of power positions in all spheres of society.
How can we change this story? We need to transform the way we treat motherhood in the workplace.
It does not make sense that, today, in 2020, we will be penalized in our careers or excluded from the corporate world for the simple fact of choosing to donate our bodies to guarantee the future of humanity.
Have you ever thought what would happen if each and every woman chose not to have children in order not to harm her career? Humanity, which begins in the female womb, would be threatened with extinction. Putting our existence at risk is unsustainable.
We, women, are the ones who become pregnant and create the future.
Are you part of the problem, the solution or the landscape?

4 年It is a perfect say, not the perfect say. Ya, you own the future, who makes this future beautiful, worth living, respectable and more?. without these? Why should we need a future, which is uncertain?. Every one has a part to play. Those who carry the future, noture it, but that future needs sustainance, direction, a man comes in to complete that. both parties are important, thats why it is called a family, a society, an economy, a nation or even a state. Governed by the future. Thanks for carrying tomorrow, thanks for noturing tomorrow, but tomorrow needs more than that. Thanks

5 年Men and Women both need each other. Without a man and a father, you wouldnt even be born. I coupd write the same story and replace women with men. Stop victimising and trying to be equal to men. This is disgusting. Women are just different to men and accept it. The most disgusting thing a woman can do is to compare her with a man.

N?o poderia haver nada menos sustentável!

5 年I like the idea behind this but the emphasis on pregnancy isn't really my style. Not all women can or want to have kids. And men do have a role in fertilization too.
