Pregnancy and Infant Loss: Your Beliefs are Irrelevant

Pregnancy and Infant Loss: Your Beliefs are Irrelevant

People tend to focus on polarizing issues and viewpoints because they fuel passion & engagement. When it comes to pregnancy & infant loss, it really doesn't matter what your political beliefs are. This topic tends to set people off for the wrong reasons - even though it matters SO much.

If you identify as pro-choice....

You are adamant about protecting a woman's right to choose. You value autonomy.

When a woman loses a baby (or babies), the desires of her heart are violated on the deepest level imaginable. She does not choose this outcome; it tears apart every fiber of her being.

If you describe yourself as pro-life...

You recognize the fundamental value of every human life. You believe that the unborn are people, too, and that they deserve to be treated as such.

When these brief lives end they qualify as deaths - to the same, tragic extent that the passing of a child or adult would be acknowledged (but with even more lost potential.)

No matter what your political views may be, you should care passionately about those who are forced to live through this heartache against their will.

Nobody wants to become "1 in 4." None of us would wish this upon ANYONE else. It is real, unavoidable and tragic.

Our beliefs, as individuals, may assign us arbitrary labels. At the end of the day, however, we are all human. we could all stand to love, and be loved, a little bit more.

To summarize:

Baby loss is NOT a choice.

Baby loss = the death of a tiny person.
