Forgive them for they knew not what they were doing when they chose to opt for School Myopia being an inherited vulnerability in the 1960's excluding the possibility that linked to environment and life-style.
Of course this was a pre-digital age and it wasn't until the 21st Digital Century that the appliance of science enhanced our knowledge of how "Plastic" and adaptable our brains are post childhood and so many still holding onto the prescribed learning that post '8' or '9' years old there is little than can be done to reverse childhood visual disruptions - ho hum
Perhaps this is why too many older practitioners in the field of optometry are still using the tried and tested however so ineffective, simply due to prolonged period of traditional VT eye exercises to rehabilitate and/or complete longitudinal sessions of treatment from eye-patching, pencil push-up's and/or exercises like Brock-String for loss of 3D vision or worse "Cosmetic Surgery" that too often requires repetition as, it does not restore 3D vision as a solely cosmetic intervention.
Eye-strain, binocular vision stress, Screen Fatigue or worse Computer Vision Syndrome in 58% (2007) DSE user operators presents in an average of 20%, or one day a week, loss in visual performance and thereby productivity as, the employee carries-on regardless or presenteeism and effectively self-harming until unable to continue and takes time-off work for around six weeks recovery from their their repetitive stress injuries.

Whilst there will be those with preexisting visual impairments, Dyslexia or Neurodiverse the remaining user operators will predictably present induced visual repetitive stress injuries within six months to two years depending on maximum screen exposure of up to fours hours daily...
Nonetheless, there has been an Asthenopia Risk Assessment tool around for twenty years that addresses "Contrast Sensitivity" the majority of these children experience, enabling the excluded functionally and digitally illiterate to read fluently enough to engage and participate in learning originally developed by the S.M.A.R.T. Foundation UK Dyslexic Project Director Nigel Dupree who went on to patent the methodology and is now in the process of commercialising the product for industry..
