Predictive Maintenance (PdM) vs. Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM)

While both Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) aim to prevent equipment failures and reduce unplanned downtime, they differ in approach, technology, and data usage.
CBM is suitable for simple systems where condition indicators (like temperature, pressure, or vibration) directly correspond to asset health.
PdM is ideal for complex, critical assets where early detection of issues can avoid major failures and reduce costs
1. ??????????????????-?????????? ?????????????????????? (??????)
????????????????????: Maintenance is performed when specific indicators (like temperature, vibration, or pressure) signal that the equipment's condition has deteriorated to a threshold requiring intervention.
??????????????: Real-time monitoring of asset conditions using sensors, inspections, or manual checks.
???????? ??????????????: Basic sensors, manual readings, or simple IoT devices.
????????????????????: Relies on real-time, rule-based alerts or threshold limits.
???????????????????????????? ????????????????????: Low to medium; it requires sensors and software to capture and interpret data.
??????????????: If a motor's vibration exceeds a pre-set threshold, maintenance is scheduled to prevent failure.
??????????????: Prevents failures by acting as soon as a critical threshold is reached.
2. ???????????????????? ?????????????????????? (??????)????????????????????:
Maintenance is performed based on predictions made using advanced data analytics, AI, and machine learning to estimate when an asset is likely to fail.
??????????????: Algorithms predict future failures before any warning signs are detected.
???????? ??????????????: Large datasets from sensors, historical failure data, and machine learning models.
????????????????????: Advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI-based predictions.
???????????????????????????? ????????????????????: High; requires more data, advanced analytics, and predictive algorithms.
??????????????: Predictive analytics identify that a pump is likely to fail in 20 days based on its historical pattern, vibration data, and operating conditions.
??????????????: Provides a proactive approach, offering more lead time for planning maintenance, unlike CBM, which triggers only after a condition is met.
