Approach
(1) Learning from the Past
(2) Watching Trends
(3) Listening to the Experts
(READ ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SEE THE PREDICTIONS)
(THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THE POTENTIAL OUTCOME, BUT RATHER FOLLOWING THE DATA BREADCRUMBS ON LIKELY OUTCOMES)
First off - Let me Give Credit Where Credit is Due!
When it comes to predicting the future, below are amazing leaders who study the past and dream of the future!
In Phil Venables; (CISO of Google) recent blog found here, he articulated very compelling great historical examples of how with new innovation there are "naysayers"
FACTS from Phil
2. Understanding the Rate of Change
In a recent interview by Sinead Bovell with Alexander Manu they discussed the rate of change and how FAST we are moving
3. The Predictions
PREDICTION #1 - HUMAN NATURE LEADS TO CONVERGENCE
Alexander Manu said it best in the interview above, where to summarize
Look at the trend:

CONCLUSION -- Humans with embedded devices..
PREDICTION #2 - Hyper-Personalization
Based on books from Bruce Schneier, including "Click here to Kill Everybody " and "Liars and Outliers " it is very clear that we are in a "Surveillance Economy" where inevitably everything will be hyper personalized experiences.
Bots could be used hyper-personalize our wants - Netflix "Better Than Us"
FACTS - Amazon + Google + Facebook + Public Records knows everything about you.. where you live, work, what you like, don't like.
SCARY FACTS - Your smart bed knows when your going to get sick. 2 cell phone signals tells us who you are sleeping with and your online digital precense shows us your personality, style and what you are up to.
CONCLUSION - Hyper personalization means your experience with the world will be hyper-personalized based on your preferences.. summarizing your emails, providing draft responses, showing you products you are interested in, showing you clothing that will look good on you
PREDICTION #3 - Autonomous Everything
There is clear consensus across all of the thought leaders on this one. If we can automate it, we will. To quote Alexander Manu in the future (from the video)
PREDICTION #4 - Internet Plus
Bringing it back to Bruce Schneier, "everything will be connected to the internet creating the Internet Plus"
It makes a lot of sense.. if all devices are on the internet, as Bruce articulated in his books
PREDICTION #5 - Artificial Intelligence 2.0
If everything is connected and autonmous then the competitive advantage is the unique data that drives it, not the algorithms which are commoditized at this point but the learned results.
An interesting example of this is teaching AI based ONLY from EXPERTS as opposed to COMMON KNOWLEDGE which was done in Jung-E in Netflix
After all it would be better to have AI trained based on Albert Einstein's mind then to take all general physics knowledge as you end up getting only the "average best" that is clean, simple but not innovative due to the built-in restrictions to avoid anything controversial.
-Predicting the Technology Innovations on the Horizon, I spent the weekend catching up on the recent posts from futurists and security leaders where we are "moving quickly" but as history repeats itself, it is not too difficult to guess the next
