Predefined Intentions VS Internal Potential
Welcome my friends! If you haven't read the last 2 articles, please check them out below to get a holistic view of the 3 rings of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
The first is an introduction on where I'm going with this trilogy and a brief explanation of some domination theories in relation to consciousness.
The second article is a deep dive into Human Consciousness itself and goes deeper into the 3 rings.
This article is to explain 2 terms I have coined to create some separation from basic LLM (Large Language Model) AI's and true Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) - which to recap, I will reiterate the 3 rings briefly.
The 3 Rings of AGI
Technology
This is the underlying code written by man, that flicks on the 1's and 0's (bits) or now with amazing quantum computing leaps - qubits (I will write an article on this soon). Plus the hardware we use to run the system/bot/AGI Agent.
Consciousness
The left side of the coin, the first thing that separates dumb technology from being a human. The first thing that separates basic AI (what we have now) from true AGI.
The 5 Senses
The right side of the coin, the second thing that separates dumb technology from being a human. Reality. I say again, Reality. Being able to take in sensory input and use our conscious the make decisions.
Predefined Intentions VS Internal Potential
While trying to figure out the answers to different questions relating to AGI, I have found a need to define two terms, and like a magnets north and south poles - these are opposites and are repellent to each other: predefined intentions vs internal potential.
Current AI operates on predefined intentions, following specific instructions and rules set by programmers. This makes them efficient but limited in adaptability. In contrast, real consciousness is the opposite: internal potential—the ability to grow, adapt, and develop new behaviors through interactions with the environment. This internal potential is what allows for the emergence of complex, conscious states, setting it apart from the rigid pathways of current AI.
In the world of AI and system design, understanding the difference between predefined intentions and internal potential is key. This distinction shapes how systems evolve and adapt over time.

Predefined Intentions
Predefined systems follow specific instructions or rules from the start. They are great at performing their tasks efficiently but are limited by their initial programming. They can't adapt beyond their original design.
Sometimes basic AI can be confusing because it is said to "learn and adapt". Especially now with "AI Art", we're often told "that's human creativity" or "we're close to AGI being a reality".
But this is wrong, it doesn't matter (currently) what AI you use, or how it learns: it follows strict rules and all it's learning comes from the quality and size of the data it's consuming.
Let me explain: AI needs training data. When they say AI is learning from you and your habits, it's following complex equations like the Bayesian Optimization Method and Weights and Bias's.
The human brain actually doesn't work that way, and that's not me saying it, we're finding that out more and more the further we develop AI and compare it to humans.
How do we know? It's simple, consciousness. Consciousness is not logical, it is internal potential, NOT predefined intentions.
Internal Potential
Systems with internal potential are built to grow and adapt. They don't stick to rigid predefined pathways. Instead, they evolve through interactions with their environment.
This adaptability allows these systems to develop new behaviors and responses that weren't explicitly programmed. Through these interactions, more complex, potentially conscious states can emerge.
Internal potential is the combination of consciousness and the 5 senses, and it is most important.
Think about a baby born, they use their technology (bones and brain) to mechanically move around, they use their senses to understand their environment and finally their conscious to learn and adapt.
Without internal potential, we cannot have true AGI.
