Congratulations! You just landed an interview.
Are you ready?
This list will guide you through the process of preparing for an interview, both mentally and logistically.
By going through this checklist, you'll be confident that no detail was overlooked.
Interviewing is a nerve-wracking experience, no matter how many times you've done it. Boost your confidence, find your calm, and get ready to make a great impression.
Day Before the Interview:
?? Confirm the day and time and set an alarm for yourself.
?? Confirm your interview coordinator’s contact information.
?? Download and test the video chat service ( Zoom / Meet / Teams ).
?? Ask which services will be used for whiteboarding ( Miro / Sketch / Figma ), coding ( CoderPad / Coderbyte), etc., and practice using them.
?? Research the Company, taking note of any recent news or developments.
?? Review the LinkedIn profiles of each of your interviewers to understand their roles, how they relate to the role you’re interviewing for, and what they might ask during the interview.
?? Prepare a list of Questions to Ask Your Interviewer for when they ask, "Do you have any questions for me?".
?? Practice your Elevator Pitch and your succinct response to, "Tell me a little about yourself."
Remote Environment Setup:
?? Test your lighting, making sure the light is on your face without casting a shadow. Adjust your light source so that it’s behind and above your laptop or camera.
?? Test your microphone configuration and make sure your voice is clear.

?? Make sure your camera is on or near the monitor where you’ll put the video chat window, so you can look into the camera when talking to your interviewer. A second screen can be used for coding, whiteboarding, etc.
?? Fully charge your laptop and plug it in.
?? Turn off notifications on both your laptop and phone.
?? Make sure your background is neutral, and tidy up behind you if necessary.
?? Dress professionally.
?? Put a glass of water within reach.
?? Keep a pen and paper or your preferred method of taking notes nearby.
During the Interview:
?? Reach out to your interview coordinator immediately if you encounter a personal emergency, a technical issue, or if your interviewer doesn’t show up after ten minutes. Always be honest and polite.
?? Join the meeting on time, but no more than a few minutes early.
?? Check your posture. Lean in, show interest, and make eye contact.
?? Listen to each question carefully. If you didn’t hear or understand, ask for clarification.
?? Think for a moment before answering each question. Make sure you understand why your interviewer is asking this question, how it relates to the job, and what kind of answer they expect from a strong candidate.
?? Speak slowly and clearly. Be succinct.
?? Smile and be enthusiastic! You might not realize it, but this could be the perfect job for you!

6 个月Kim Johnson Perfect wrap up of all the things to do. I would just add that while I agree some what with the background and lighting, sometimes you just need to be yourself and go with what you have. I know I dont stress on it because essentially the person interviewing you is talking to YOU and unless the area and background is horrible, shame on them for ruling you out just for that
