Pre-flight, Checklists, and Marketing

There is a saying, "Your pre-flight should be like a mini skirt: long enough to cover everything, and short enough to hold your full attention." No flight begins without a thorough pre-flight inspection: untying wings and checking the edges, checking the aileron for freedom of movement, checking fuel level, sumping the fuel for quality, checking lights, tire treads, engine oil, propeller edge, pitot heat, and the empennage etc.

A good Flight Instructor drills the discipline of following check-lists diligently and at times of unstable flight conditions--induced or otherwise. Fighter pilots have a lap pad full of checklists. Commercial pilots go through a full read-out and voice confirmation process of pre-flight check lists prior to starting engine, and then a pre-roll checklist, a before take-off checklist (where you see them dropping flaps, activating the ailerons, checking the empennage and so on) before being towed out.

You get my gist: what seems a very exciting and "sexy" occupation is in truth, built on discipline and diligence. The discipline to follow check-lists, and the diligence to carry each procedure out in full process.

As a marketer, what are your checklists and how do you follow / enforce them?

I would be delighted to invite you to contribute your processes and create a common asset for all of us marketers on Linkedin.

Warmly
