The Pre-Flight Checklist

Your daily ‘Pre-flight’ checklist to keep you on track for the day.?Every day.

1. What are the <insert number here> things that you will get done today no matter what?

If you use a system like 5x5 (or 3x11) you will start each day with some shape to it already but take a breath and review the list you made late yesterday to ensure it serves your needs.

What reward will you give yourself if you achieve them? (Hint it does not have to be big)

2. What are you going to tackle first?

Are you going to ‘eat the frog’ or start small to build momentum? Which approach most aligns with how you feel today, about today?

3. What is your Primary Goal?

What is it you are working to achieve this week, this month, this quarter, this year?

Is doing the things on your list moving you closer to any of these?

4. Why are you doing what you do?

Revisit the ‘Why’ of what you do.

Start with why you sat down at your desk this morning.

Then reinforce your goal(s) by answering: Why is it important that you reach your goal(s)?

5. What are you NOT doing that you know you SHOULD be doing?

Are you ‘shoulding’ all over yourself?

Are you avoiding the things you know will move you forward because they are outside your comfort zone?

Using a quick list like this will help you refocus on the important things each day and help you avoid the fluff and distractions.
