A pre-Christmas event to start the snowball rolling.

A pre-Christmas event to start the snowball rolling.

My family and I attended readings (by David Frederickson) of Dickensian ghost stories in Tissington Hall last Friday night with log fires in all the rooms, a quartet of harpists playing in the main hall, hot nibbles and mulled wine to greet us and during the interval, and it even snowed as the evening came to an end! The seven open rooms (out of a total of sixty-one) have been decorated (using authentic furnishings, fittings and documents, etc. all found stored within the Hall) to replicate scenes from Dickens's books, whilst ornate Christmas trees and an abundance of white pealights add even more magic to the occasion. (Two of the rooms have previously been sealed for more than a hundred years - other than on the occasion "Most Haunted" was filmed there.)

Because of the unexpected success of the first night (tickets for which sold out a couple of months ago), two more evenings have been scheduled, but regardless of whether you wish to come for one of the special evenings, the Hall is open during the next two weekends, plus they will open and provide guided tours for pre-booked groups of twenty or more during the weekdays during that time. Herewith follows their literature, plus a relevant press article:
