PRAYERS WITHOUT WORKS

Advisor Owen Katongo Kabanda, is there any problem with someone deciding to pray and fast for a breakthrough even if they do not put in an effort to work for what they pray for?
THE CHOICES ARE YOURS
So, sometimes to make things simple with your life you decide to simply resort to using some anointed water, oil, broom, toothbrush, and even anointed pants among others.
You are a Student, not studying and when you hear a test, you go on your knees, fasting and praying to pass with flying colours, all the best.
You are a Job Seeker and you do not prepare your papers, you do not write applications, and if you write you shelve them. You do not learn interview skills, and you sit waiting for God to do miracles.
You are an Employee, your behaviour is totally unacceptable and your performance is below standard yet you believe God will keep you in that job “since He is the one who gave it to you,” all the best.
You are a Business Owner, you do not take your business serious, you do not put in place good people, good processes, and good systems, and you just pray the business will boom. Happy for you, really.
You are a Leader of an organisation, or a team, you are having difficulties leading people, and you do not invest in learning leadership skills but just believe God will turn your situation.
The Holy Bible teaches that faith without works is dead. Even when God used to give free food (manna) the people had to wake up early morning to go and pick the same. So, what has happened that nowadays you just want to pray, sit, and wait for those miracles?
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO DO
Now, regardless of your choices as to whether you are religious or not, one thing remains clear, human beings were designed to take action in order to achieve something.
#1. GET YOUR PRIORITIES RIGHT
If you find yourself slipping slowly or quickly into the abyss of prayers without works, try applying some breaks and do a reality check.
Think about what you want to achieve with your life, and then start realigning yourself and start taking action towards things that helps you to achieve your dreams.
It is easy to run to some persons and sometimes pay heavily in airfares for someone considered anointed to give you anointed water, anointed oil, anointed brooms, anointed pants, and just about everything anointed that you can think of.
After collecting all these things considered anointed, then what? If you do not do your part, that is self-deception, and you might as well forget about achieving anything.
#2. LOOK FOR OPPORTUNITIES
Rather than complaining every day about how school is difficult, how finding jobs is so difficult, how working with poor conditions is so difficult, how running businesses is so difficult, sit and think again.
Ask yourself serious question of how much effort are you putting in seeing opportunities that might exist for you to improve your life in whatever you are trying to achieve?
Spending your life sitting, doing nothing, and simply attributing your lack of success to the so called evil spirits, witchcraft, some jealous neighbour, some grandmother of yours who died already and left “a Connection”, might be erroneous.
Rather than allowing your brain to be paralysed by fear of the unknown, resolve to take action to achieve that which you desire. Your prayer should be for God to bring opportunities your way.
#3. INVEST IN LEARNING NEEDED SKILLS
Cutting corners and choosing not to do your level best in your business, work, job seeking, and school among others, does not lead to anything.
Even in Bible times, the great men including David had to start from the scratch and learn first as well as sharpen their skills before they were elevated to high leadership positions. The Disciples of Jesus had to learn before they could go and work.
So, what makes you think by simply drinking some water or wearing your anointed pant all of a sudden miracles shall start happening?
When the need arises, you need to pray for wisdom for God to help show you which areas of your life and which skills you need to develop and sharpen more.
Prepare yourself for what you want to become or achieve in life. Successful people spend time and time perfecting themselves.
#4. TAKE ACTION
You may consider asking God to (i) bring opportunities your way, (ii) open your eyes to see those opportunities, and most important, (iii) give you the strength to take the required action.
You can have so much faith but if you do not act, it is as good as nothing.
Instead of you undertaking your duties diligently at work for instance, you keep on drinking your anointed water in the hope of what again?
If you (i) do not perform your duties, and or (ii) you are behaving in a manner contrary to the requirements of the organisation you are working for, be assured that no matter the amount of prayers, if you do not improve, you may be fired.
CLOSING REMARKS
While prayer is encouraged for the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of people, the same should be coupled with works if you want to make it in life.
It is erroneous to simply think that you can just pray about your business, employment, job seeking, and school among other things without taking action or working towards achievement of that desire.
