A Prayer for the Unnamed Victims of Hurricane Harvey

I want to elevate a prayer to the Almighty for those victims of Hurricane Harvey that are the least vocal; the ones who aren’t in the news yet because there is just so much devastation to report on. We need prayers for those who can’t leave their homes because of illness, or because they are taking care of someone who cannot move. We need prayers for those who don’t have any food left at home and can’t get out to find any. We need prayers for those who don’t have means and can’t get to any source of money, to get the basic things that we all take for granted: water, food, meds, any manner of unimaginable necessity that is immediately outside their grasp. We need to wrap them in a protective shield of prayer, faith and hope to surround their homes, all of their loved ones, their access to food and warmth. Let’s pray that help arrives swiftly and fulfills every single one of their needs. And we need to pray, Lord, for tireless helping hands for every person, every animal that is currently in despair. More importantly, that in this tragic moment they can find strength in all of us, and keep the flame of faith and hope always alight. Let’s pray that we can all be servants of hope and love and help them in their hour of need, which is also our own.

To my friends, family, mentees, and mentors, my dear friends at the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; to the Texas communities that I have been called on to serve for all my life: we are with you, we are a part of you, and you are not alone.

God bless all of you!
