Prayer in general is a mysterious phenomenon.

Prayer in general is a mysterious phenomenon.

?If one is a follower of an Abrahamic religion, one believes in a god whose will is immutable, and whom one need not ask what for anything one specifically needs — and certainly not for contingent goods.

It makes no biblical sense, for example, for a Christian to pray for some good in the “vale of tears” that is this world. “Please, Lord, help me overcome my stress” is both to ask God to contravene what “he” has immutably fixed from all eternity and to demonstrate a lack of faith in some better hereafter.

I believe in no “better hereafter,” and therefore can pardoned, perhaps, for having more care for the people and affairs of this world.

?

Lord, thank you for this beautiful day.

May peace and love fill my heart.

Show me the way to light and truth.

?Help me to be kind and patient.

Guide me with your wisdom.

Fill me with joy and gratitude.

?

These short prayers are a great way to take a few moments each day to give thanks to God for everything in our life.

?

Whether you have had a personal relationship with God for years or are only beginning to discover who Jesus is, we all need guidance sometimes when it comes to prayers.

?It’s often hard to find the words to pray, so we put together this collection of short prayers. The following short prayer offer guiding words to pray over various topics, including worry, anxiety, doubt, forgiveness, fear, and other areas where we need God’s help.?

Short Prayer for Difficult Times

I pray that despite the difficulty surrounding us we can stand firm in our faith.

I pray we can share the love of Jesus with all those around us and that the lies and the schemes of the enemy will not prevail.?

?

I lift the people who don’t know you, I pray you would bring people into their lives that can bring truth to their hearts and hope for their souls.?

?Thank you for your peace, Lord and thank you that we can come to you and you meet us right where we are.

In your name we pray, but does God answer ?

?“No” is one of the hardest answers I can receive. But, once again, it is important to remember that God is all-knowing and is aware of the entire timeline of history.

?

He knows every possible outcome of every possible choice in every possible situation; we do not.

?

He sees the “big picture”; we see a partial brushstroke.?

?

When we get a “no” answer, we must trust that whatever we asked for was not God’s will.

?

Prayer is a treasured privilege and mainstay for those who belong to God through the saving work of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

The gift of communing with our Creator—child to Father—is the anchor and cornerstone of our life’s journey.

For the unbeliever, a prayer cry to know and have a relationship with the Living God is precious and sacred.

Repentance and acknowledgment of Almighty as Lord leads to walking in joy and fellowship with the One who made us?.

?

It isn't a requirement, but some people pray aloud when in a group of other believers so as to ask for agreement.

Other times I pray aloud so as to show the simplicity of prayer. I think it helps new Christians feel less intimidated to pray themselves.

When I am alone and praying, I sometimes pray aloud because the audible voice helps me to distinguish my prayers from my random thoughts.

Silent prayers can be drowned out by other thoughts. I find for me at least that this is less likely if I speak the prayer aloud. I can then think back on what I prayed aloud for and when the answer comes I know it.
