About my background
I'm no longer a teacher, but I now manage the mentors who implement my teaching methods at my own language school. Thus, I do have some insights into what characterizes Business English Training
Today, we'll explore:
How does your company benefit from language courses?
This list is extensive if your company genuinely needs language training (meaning it can be seen as an investment). Another condition is that you provide solid, personalized courses rather than a mere inexpensive employee perquisite.
Here are the advantages:
How many of these translate into increased profits for your company? How many of them reduce your costs, such as through higher employee retention
Where's the catch?
I strongly discourage foreign language acquisition in the workplace as a perk. Perks serve only one purpose: HR's influence on employees. They're supposed to be happy about getting something for free (morale booster).
But does this really bring your company closer to a specific goal? In the broader context, such perks lack:
Foreign languages in your workplace must be a carefully considered investment.
What Does Your Company Lose Without Language Skills?
O-righty, let's just stop fvckn around and have a glance at some facts:
"A study by ELAN (...) found that a significant percentage of European companies suffer annual losses due to inadequate language and intercultural skills..." (via: mambiznes.pl)
I have a quick task for you: erase "money" from your vocabulary and instead - install this lovely little word: "resources". Of which we've got plenty of types: time, energy, currency and so on.
Every investment must yield a return in the form of increased resources (don't just focus on money, honey). Languages and communication impact company's operations on many levels. You probably didn't consider that language learning improves your employee's brain function, memory, and even protects against Alzheimer's and the like. Or did you?
Countrywide perspective
To illustrate the scale of the potential losses I mentioned earlier, I'll quote Madame Coussins from APPG, United Kingdom:
"The UK economy is already losing around £50 billion a year in lost contracts because of a lack of language skills in the workforce," (via: theguardian.com)
Yeah. Just do your numbers and keep in mind that this is the economy of a country that actually wields this global language as their mother-tongue.

We love comparisons to our western neighbors...
"The law in most federal states in Germany states that your employer must offer you five days of Bildungsurlaub or 'educational leave' per year." (Via: myjobgermany.com)
This means that every year, a German employer must allocate 5 working days or 40 hours to educate and develop their employee. In other words, the employee must spend nearly an hour each week on self-improvement during work, as required by law.
"Required by law" means sheer minimum
You can safely assume that the real competitors do much more than that, so they could actually attract the best talents to their organisation. What about us, in Poland? Are you already willing to better your own subordinates for the greater good of your company? Or are you nonsensically scared that they are going to escape your fellowship?
Do they really quit without any reason?
Let's shift our perspective. An invested employee is a good employee, so provide them with tangible benefits that extend beyond the monthly salary, such as genuinely engaging language course. Not the cheap, one-size-fits-all kind...
What's in it for you?
Peace of mind? Give them something that truly makes them better and more valuable each week. Don't fear that they quit. If you don't train them, they're going to leave you and go to a place that... surprise, surprise - invests in them in a thought-through manner.
How do you achieve that with a language course?
That's easy.
YOU don't do that.
Neither your HR, assistant nor your mom does. As long as they are not highly qualified specialists: linguists, neurolinguists or practitioners who intrinsically understand some dope shyt like:
Summa summarum
Improve the self-worth of your employees by providing them with a real skill that can be used in their personal life. In consequence, it will make them practice these skills more frequently in their professional life.
Your company's revenue will smile and wink at you, growing as fast as the inflation rate in Poland this past year. Simultaneously, your CFO shall notice lesser expenses due to better retention and all these indirect things we strongly believe that they just work for us.

Mateusz Stasica (Thy / Thou / Thee) No foreign languages equals no international business. Even if you hire interpreters, you still lose to foreign language users. Who will a company leader trust more? A person who can talk with him freely. Or a person who can't do it and needs support. No matter what your offer is or how good you are. If you can't talk about it, you always lose. ALWAYS! It's not even the case of logical reasoning, business or anything like that. It's a case of the subconscious mind that ultimately decides whom to trust. So go around and explain why you don't need foreign languages in your company. I'll sip my English tea and observe the results. And trust me, they won't be good...
