I just came off a wonderful week, speaking at the Executive Sales Leadership Roundtable in Dallas with the DMP crew! Man, they know how to run a meeting. Such a fantastic team there, and truth be told, have always admired the leadership and company. Their core values are evident. My Angie goal is and will be to land with or build a team of such quality and value in my future life once I get there. For me, this has been a season of hurry up and wait, from my move to Tennessee, to leaving a company I dearly love and its people, to seeing what God has in store for me in the next step of my journey, called life.
What does and can the waiting ultimately teach us? Since the title of my future book is, “Tales of an impatient sales lady”, you can already guess that I am not the most patient person you will meet. There however are several gifts in waiting, as I say on God’s timing, and I have come to believe that it is always perfect. I was speaking with my amazing and incredibly talented nephew this morning, and he has struggled for the last few years to understand why certain doors just keep closing, when he really would like a different path in his journey for him and his family. Is there a point in our life when we view roadblocks as positive versus a negative? My most recent favorite saying is rejection is God’s protection, laughing. It sounds simple, but lately and in my journey, when I trust those roadblocks are there for a reason, I have found this to ring true, time after time. But wait!
There can also be a flip side to this coin, and that is that we are putting those roadblocks up on purpose. Change and risk are hard for most of us normal human beings, outside of the super humans like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, etc.…. But man, we know there were tremendous roadblocks for them before they ever began to be successful. I would love to know collectively how many doors closed on them in their rise to where they are today. ?Risk has this nasty way of reminding us of our fear of failure and losing everything by risking the wrong timing and plan we choose. Now there is a secret to this, and its risk and failure can be trumped (no pun intended) by belief and passion. When you decide to do something, or make that next step, belief and passion will drive a four-wheel drive right over risk and failure. Now, you may encounter both of those along the way, but if you honestly believe in what you are doing and where you are going, your momentum will always carry you onward to something amazing, just remind yourself that timing is critical and maybe not as quickly as we like it. That darn impatient thing again, laughing.

Waiting in the hallways of life is just another way to prepare us for what is best for us and allowing us to breathe. If you knew me, you would say Angie, when do you really breathe? Right? Not as often as I should, but in my recent few months, I have had no choice but to wait in the hallway and breathe, and pray, which is what sustains me in these periods of doubt or change.
When roadblocks come or doors may shut, just remember, there are reasons we don’t always see and when you look back a year or two from now, or maybe even sooner, you will see just why that happened. I can look back on my life and see it repeatedly, even in my move to Tennessee. The house I originally wanted fell through, but man, thank goodness, because I found the absolute perfect one because it did, and the neighbors I could only dream of. Embrace the hallways, and embrace the roadblocks, because they are truly the best gift you can be given to remind us of something so much better is coming, just hold on.
I have had several conversations with folks about "The best worst thing that every happened to us." That is the thing at the time that happens and you just feel like this is the worst thing that could've happened to you. Then, years (some times many years) later, you look back and realize, had that "worst thing" not happened, you wouldn't be in this wonderful spot you are in today. For those of you who may not be in that great spot today, take this as a reminder to have Faith. When you pray for patience, God doesn't just give you patience, he gives you the opportunity to BE patient. Also, He never promised you that you would be ahead at halftime, only that you would win the game!

2 个月I've been in career purgatory before. The outcome is amazing but the grind through it stunk. Praising God through the storm and having a heart of gratitude through the time was tough. You wonder if you ever will come through. I'll tell you this - the view from the other side is worth and and God's timing is perfect - especially for those of us who have made the mistakes of working to expedite His timeframe ;)

2 个月I think I first heard, “good things come to those who wait.” From my grandma, when I was impatiently waiting for her to make me German Pancakes. Thinking back on this she was right. I too am little Ms. Impatient. Lord knows it is always something I’m working on. But just like the house good things will come to you my friend! Breathe, reflect and continue to engage. Can’t wait to see you and hug you in 2025!

2 个月When Evolon builds a large office one day - I’ll have to design an area outside the sales pit called The Hallway! The spot you go to cool down & recover between sales calls, rejection, and successes - love the message ????
