Participative with people focus & passion :
When a leader discusses the future goals, takes everyone’s buy in , involves everyone in decision making, it makes the goal set by the leader as everyone’s goal. A participative leader is inclusive who takes everyone along and thinks for progress of all. People follow a leader when they judge that the decision taken by the leader is in their best interest. A participative leader understands the need of the team members and align everyone’s interest to that of leader as well as of organization. It takes time and genuine interest in team members’ welfare, to build trust. When you as a leader show compassion towards team members, care for their aspirations, you will get contribution from each team member.
Participative leaders need to know people as individuals to truly understand their interests, aspirations. Some of the team members care more about long-term career development whereas some care more about organizational milestone achievements, some of the team members want to grow fast along with the organization and some care more about remuneration. When you as a leader understand about your team members’ true interests, aspirations, you can communicate with them accordingly, take their views and channelize actions to achieve goals while taking everyone along with you.
A participative leader, whether a CEO or a department head, creates a common vision by building a coalition among its members to support that vision. Building a coalition in support of an organizational vision demands a skilled use of negotiation principles, including understanding team members’ interests, creating trustworthy working relationships, and communicating in the right voice and medium. It requires the leader to connect with all the key players.

There is a difference between full of resources and being resourceful. As resources are limited, a PRAGATI leader thinks more of solutions with available resources. Instead of complaining, PRAGATI leader tries to find out solutions for the challenges. Resourcefulness is a highly valued skill corporates look in senior leadership roles. It's becoming even more esteemed as every corporate is becoming profit focused with optimization of resources. The budgets are being cut left, right, and the only way out is to work smarter with disruptive, innovative approach. The PRAGATI leader always works on resourceful mode. Being resourceful helps leaders to increase profit without increasing or cutting people cost (manpower), while maintaining margins and quality.
Aspirational
Leader should be aspirational who inspires team members to frame their own aspiration and align with their leaders or organization. When PRAGATI leader spells out bigger goal, vision for the organization with detailed plan to achieve the goal, he /she earns the respect of people. Leaders need to be visionary who can envision company’s future 3 years or 5 years or 10 years down the line, and take steps to realize the vision. When aspirational leader acts, follows up, tracks the progress and delivers the goal, team trusts him/her more. Then the leader builds a momentum of audacious goals which team sees as their own goal and deliver the results. When the leader says we want to become No.1, he / she has to back up aspiration with action plan. When leaders take care of team member’s aspirations, the efforts culminate into achieving greater aspiration which is nothing but culmination of individual aspirations. Leaders need to be highly aspirational yet with adaptive mindset. Leader needs to adapt as per situation and strategize to move ahead.
