NLP "Practitioners" At Goa!

Four new NLP Practitioners came out of the NLP Practitioner Integration Course that concluded on Sep.6, 2024 at Goa! Many thanks to Suren Kolkankar for hosting us at his beautiful training venue!

The word "practitioner" has slipped into our common usage quite seamlessly. So, let me dive into what it represents for me. In my view, this word must be interpreted and associated with, in the same vein as someone who is involved in martial arts, in Indian classical music, in a sports discipline, in the performing arts, in writing or in cooking - in essence, anyone pursuing their craft with a sense of devotion, refinement and daily practice.

In that revered sense, I bring everything I have learnt from different teachers and mentors into this course, to wholeheartedly pass it on to my "students", so they take it forward - further and higher! It is a responsibility that was handed down to me by my teachers, and I hand it over to my "students", so they exercise a duty of care, in using these skills in a manner that enhances the quality of their life and the lives of people around them, in an ecological manner.

If you are keen to learn how to bake a cake, then you would need a recipe and catch hold of someone who can show you how it is done! But if I handed you a book of the best cake recipes in the world, that alone would not make you a good cake maker! You would need several iterations of baking the cake and going through the recipe to ensure that it starts resembling the recipe instructions that were handed over to you. But once you have gained the ability to follow the recipe, you realise that the recipe is just a starting point. You then discover how you tinker with the oven settings, the heat, what you use as a medium, ways to whisk, and so on. And then, there is the expert baker, who doesn't need the recipe or tools or ingredients, and can bake a cake with ingredients available off a shelf and a half-good oven.

At Iridium Coaching and Learning , I endeavor that my "students" turn out to be great bakers, artists who play around and utilize the process behind the techniques and tools, and push Neuro Linguistic Programming in domains that have not been tapped into yet. I don't want my students to be expert recipe readers or great oven mechanics! Nothing wrong with being those, but that's not the aim for our courses.

So, four crazy ones went through a bit of a grind between July and September this year, and emerged on the other side, ready to step into the world of being an Iridium NLP Practitioner, where practice comes first, and everything else comes second.

One of the participants said the following when the course concluded:

"The one modality that I have fallen in love with is NLP. As an aspiring therapist, that the client doesn't have to bare open their life to you - and yet a difference can be made, is a big thing.

We use language so loosely. Through this program I also realised the power of language - power of language to self, power of language for others, power of language to build, power of language to break as well.

What I got in touch with is - how much power is there in what you say every moment for yourself and others."

The course has ended but each participant now carries the responsibility of being an Iridium NLP Practitioner into their life - with themselves, with their loved ones, at the workplace, and every other place or group that they walk into - to be the catalyst, to be the ripple creator of new choices and possibilities!

The word "student" appears in quotes, as they in turn teach me a lot on how I must evolve as a trainer of this craft. Hence, I best consider that the word is a loose starting point of positions when the course starts - by the time it ends, the positions have changed so many times over, that I wonder who is teaching and who is learning!

Congratulations to my "students" Nikhil Iyer Lindo C. Shibi Mathew Annie Jaison on completing the practitioner integration process!

In my limited capacity I believe that a role like this that you don, it's not just business benefits that drive you. I guess it takes a great deal of commitment towards the genuine development of people. Kudos Nikhil for traversing this terrain.
