Practising what you preach

Practising what you preach

For many years I have heard and read about the key business strategy of finding adequate time and energy to work on your business rather than in it, and I have been guilty of sharing those well-intentioned words of advice myself, but to be completely honest, until I set up my own business last year and then found myself busy "doing" I hadn't appreciated the amount of effort that needs to go into addressing the balance between ensuring service levels are upheld and driving the business forward.

I am having lots of fun and feeling very accomplished, but I am exhausted.

So, I have decided to accelerate my plans to recruit (you may have seen my campaign on LI and Indeed) and will start interviewing very soon. This is providing me with the opportunity to think about the many other elements of my personal development and business plan, including collaborating with Rachel Hales and some other inspirational leaders in my network, as well as signing up for a PECT /IIE Skills bootcamp that will stretch my thinking as well as my diary for the next 10 weeks!

So, this Friday, I challenge you.

  1. Are you taking enough time to work on your business as well as in it?
  2. What do you preach, that you could benefit from practicing?

You're preaching to the choir here Toni! All the things we share in Drive the Collaborative Network help business owners to work on their businesses in the most fun and productive way possible by sharing expertise with their peer group. This has the two fold effect of allowing people to share what skills and expertise they have in a way that benefits others, without a sales pitch entering the equation, while those who are learning are receptive and open because they're not being sold to. Learning and Sharing is a proper win:win. Congratulations on your fantastic success with growing your business. We're looking forward to hearing more about it on 4th April!
