The principle of life, the secret of successful living, is making God a part of our consciousness by practicing the presence of God. In other words, we must live in the knowledge that God is the very source of our existence and that It "has come to give us life and life more abundantly".
Practicing the Presence is the constant conscious activity of Truth. It develops spiritual consciousness. It reveals the nothingness of that which is not of God. It teaches that the personal sense of self is functioning from an erroneous premise, the belief that there is a power other than the power of God. It demonstrates that God is the only being, the only presence, the only power, and the only reality. It is obeying the word of God. It is abiding in His word and the letting of His word abide in us. It is dwelling in the secret place of the most high, God consciousness.
It is seeking first the kingdom of God within us. It is the unselfing of the personal sense of self. It is the recognition that in all this world there is no power and no presence from which those who are dwelling in the secret place of God need protection. And lastly, we must die to every suggestion that we are separate and apart from God for the ultimate message of Jesus was that of Oneness where badness has no existence except in the mind of man.
