Practicing Gratitude
What if every day you woke up only having what you gave thanks for the day before? The act of gratitude helps to accomplish a multitude of things, but I’ll highlight three that resonate with me: reflection, perspective, and appreciation.
1. Reflection. The act of gratitude is introspective, it allows us to stop and consider what we have to be thankful for in our lives.
2. Perspective: When we evaluate what we are thankful for, we clearly see what we value and contemplate where we may need to make shifts.
3. Appreciation. In contrast to the inward nature of reflection, appreciation is outward expression we demonstrate through our generosity we show in our time, talent, money, and energy.
As you contemplate about what you are thankful for today, stop and think if this simple act practicing gratitude could be helpful for you every day.
