Practice Management through Cloud Technology

Practice Management through Cloud Technology

A while back I published a post focusing on how Cloud Technology is changing Canadian health care for the better. In that post I focused on how the cloud can help Allied Health clinics with their scheduling issues. The core points of that post remains intact for this one too; the need to have agile, effective, and cost effective strategies at the core of how an Allied Health Practitioner manages their practice. The cloud is most certainly their friend in this.

Cloud technology is changing various industries across the world, disrupting is actually the correct word, but sometimes the word disruption can come with negative connotations. Then again change is often viewed rather cautiously in more traditional sectors as well. No more is change being viewed with one foot in the ‘well we have always done it this way’ camp than in health care in Canada. But you just need to look at what you can do in the Cloud, and how easy it is to analyse, store, share and access information within a cloud based platform. This sounds to me like something that is almost necessary to allow health care practitioners and their patients to thrive

There is positive news emerging from the U.S.A, the University of Illinois published an article on how Cloud Based technology is changing the Health care system in the States. A great statistic from that article is 83% of Health organisations are now using some form of the cloud. The article states the advantages of the cloud to health care are many. They include the ability to provide integrated and efficient care, this is very I important for allied health practitioners. To begin with let’s get rid of that fax machine, not only does it look ugly on your desk, it’s not making sharing patient information instantly accessible. Whereas if you use a cloud based system, multiple practitioners can view a patent file, look at results, read notes and add to them all at the same place at the same time. One click and suddenly a group of practitioners who were once working in isolation within a clinic are suddenly collaborating, and there’s not a shred of paper in sight.

If a patient is transferred from another clinic or referred from a doctor suddenly the transfer of this information is not being delayed by a fax line being down, it’s happening instantly. This means practitioners can spend more time on patient care and begin thinking about treatment almost immediately.

Another massive advantage of using cloud technology is the depth of reach that now exists for research. If more and more health care practitioners adopt cloud based technology for electronic health records, the amount of data that becomes available is huge. This allows proper in-depth research to occur, with data mining, more scientific and educated insights can be made about different types of injuries, correct treatments and the general health of the Canadian public. This amount of data will also be huge for cost saving initiatives across the health care sector, which will only benefit all the stakeholders involved in the sector. The cloud is here to stay and is slowly becoming a very real and efficient way to manage patient care and the overall running of a clinic. It’s all about how the cloud is applied and used, and how the health care sector adapts to using it.

To simplify, look at gaming, there are more app based games available now than ever, all of these with stunning 3-D graphics delivered through the cloud right to people’s mobile devices anywhere at any-time. The cloud allows you to do this uninterrupted, think what you could do with that power if you applied it to running your practice and assisting your patients. As a clinician you want information at your fingertips, you want to be able to access a patient file easily, and you want to be able to share with your patient as well. It’s a two way street. Why should it be a tedious experience dealing with a patient before and after their treatment. Everyone in this day and age wants instant accessibility, whether it’s to book an appointment, access insurance information, or try remember those pesky exercises that your lovely physiotherapist wrote down on that piece of paper, oh wait that piece of paper, where did I put it….! Now if it’s all stored in the cloud, you can just log on and it’s at your fingertips.

That’s one of the positives for a patient, but for a Clinic owner or a practitioner within an allied health setting, the cloud brings them endless opportunities. Not only will it allow you to work smarter, it should if applied correctly increase overall efficiencies within the clinic setting, Reducing costs, and overtime increasing revenue. How I hear you ask can moving to the cloud do this, and more importantly how our Cloud based Practice Management Software can help you do it.

Well let’s try breaking it down in no particular order;

  • Lower costs, no overheads, no capital expenditure for your clinic.
  • Scalability, the cloud can eliminate system downtime, no waiting for equipment or upgrades associated with hardware.
  • Flexibility, access to information on any device at any time.
  • Security, our cloud based practice management tool is all securely housed in centralised Canadian servers.
  • Ease of use, insurance billing, instant claim submissions, many 3rd party integrations.
  • Data Driven, have the ability to manage and process huge amounts of data at your fingertips, and instantly make sense of it. Thus being able to spot trends and innovate your practice instantly.
  • Remove paper; remove tedious paper based insurance claims.
  • Provide real time reporting, instant access to your accounts, no more delayed billable or incorrect end of day’s reports.

Our company has taken the cloud and looked at it from the angle of how to help a practitioner and the patient. We know what pain points are, as we have spoken, listened and watched across clinics in Canada. It’s not rocket science, allied health care practitioners want easier to use systems, instant access to information and something to remove the complexities that are associated with Insurance billing whether it’s Motor Vehicle or Extended health benefits.

At Quindell Health Services we have a number of products that aim to simplify things for practitioners across Canada and the globe. One of these is our very own Cloud Based Practice Management software built by practitioners with practitioners in mind. We bring together on-line billing and scheduling, electronic medical records, charting capabilities, invoicing, billing integrations, powerful reporting tools, and an interactive patient portal and much more. All on an intuitive user interface providing the ultimate user experience. Entirely on the cloud, it provides practitioners the influence to change the way they run a clinic and take care of patients.  Literally putting this control into the palm of their hands, changing how allied health clinics operate for the better.
