Practice bank to share interventions for policing and crime reduction

The practice bank is made up of interventions that have been implemented by crime reduction and community safety organisations, including police forces.?The interventions have been used to address specific crime problems or organisational change.

The practice bank has been developed to:

• share information about implementing these interventions
• allow others to build on existing work
• support innovation

Problem solving with the practice bank

The practice bank includes examples on homicide prevention, diversity and inclusion and violence against women and girls (VAWG). Filters can help identify possible initiatives to apply to your own area and each intervention is labelled as ‘worked’, ‘promising’, ‘new/innovative’ or ‘didn’t work’.

The practice bank includes examples linked to Smarter practice,?HMICFRS inspection reports , the Tilley awards and STAR funded practices.

Smarter practice examples have been reviewed jointly by the College of Policing, His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and the?National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC), and are considered suitable for further testing. Our?homicide prevention framework ?includes Smarter practice examples.

Sharing your ideas with peers

We encourage all organisations with an interest in policing and reducing crime to share examples of promising and new or innovative practice with us, as well as examples of interventions that didn’t work.
