Practical Uses of AI In Business

This morning I was the opening keynote speaker at a conference for commercial flooring professionals. I was sharing my keynote: "The Future of leadership- AI, ChatGPT, changing workforce & leadership strategies". As I always do, I invited the audience to text me questions and engage through real time polling.

I shared the many uses of AI including ChatGPT including research, writing, editing, digital diary, dream interpretation, writing difficult emails and more.

One of the text questions I received was how are some companies currently using AI within the organization. While there are many different use cases I thought I would share an overview here since it was a great question.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force, offering unprecedented opportunities to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and unlock new levels of success. There are a variety of AI platforms and solutions available to help companies implement AI and in future newsletters I will share a few that I know have a successful track record.

Here are a few examples of how AI is being used in companies. (there is many more use cases these are just a few that are commonly used.)

  1. Document Data Extraction: Extracting and formatting valuable data from various documents such as invoices, purchase orders, and contracts can be a time-consuming task for organizations. However, with AI-powered document data extraction tools this process becomes effortless. By automating data extraction, organizations can streamline tasks, minimize errors, and free up valuable time for their teams to focus on high-impact activities. Resources like this guide provide insights into implementing document data extraction AI solutions effectively.
  2. Smart Semantic Search: Searching through vast amounts of data to find relevant information can be daunting and time-consuming. AI-powered semantic search solutions offer a smarter alternative. Whether it's completing security questionnaires, populating RFPs, or generating meeting transcript summaries, smart semantic search capabilities save time and prevent rework. Organizational leaders can begin to investigate how to integrate smart semantic search effectively into their workflows.
  3. Tailored Chatbots: In today's digital era, customer support, sales, and employee assistance rely heavily on access to information. Decisions' tailored chatbots offer a solution by transforming manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) into custom chatbots. These chatbots can then be seamlessly integrated into various organizational functions, providing quick and precise information access to employees and customers alike. The first step in deploying and optimizing tailored chatbots within an organization is to identify the frequently asked questions by customers or suppliers. Chatbots can then answer FAQ's which frees up time for humans to work on larger scale issues.
  4. Predictive Analytics for Decision Making: Making informed decisions is crucial for organizational success. Predictive analytics powered by AI can provide valuable insights into patterns, future trends, customer behavior, and market dynamics. AI orchestration platforms facilitate the integration of predictive analytics models, enabling organizations to make data-driven decisions with confidence. Resources such as the white paper by Decisions , delve into the implementation of predictive analytics in decision-making processes.
  5. Employee Productivity Enhancement: Boosting employee productivity is an ongoing goal for organizations. AI-powered tools can help achieve this objective by automating repetitive tasks, providing personalized recommendations, and optimizing workflows. By leveraging AI to enhance employee productivity, organizations can drive efficiency and maximize output.
  6. Cybersecurity Threat Detection: With the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, organizations need robust cybersecurity measures in place. AI-based cybersecurity solutions enable proactive threat detection and mitigation, safeguarding organizational assets and data.

By leveraging AI capabilities, organizations can streamline operations, enhance productivity, and gain a competitive edge in today's dynamic business environment. With the right resources and strategies in place, implementing AI within a company becomes not just feasible but also highly rewarding. Embrace the power of AI orchestration and embark on a journey towards organizational excellence.

Cheryl, so true as long as we see it as a tool to enhance our efforts. My most recent TEDx Talk is ...Is AI and Digital Dopamine Making Us Dumb. It is not ant-AI, but rather a suggestion to have balance and avoid dependency and addiction. It was "creative" brain that created AI and the brain, like a muscle, if we don't use it we lose it. I have personally seen a person, without a calculator, could not subtract 3 from 5 dollars. Addictions are a distraction. Workplace productivity has seen its greatest drop in 75 years and there is a correlation between the drop and excessive screen time or dopamine addiction. The average I Q has also dropped almost 15 points since 1975 and mental health issues have increased. SO yes, AI is a great TOOL. but let it never be a substitute for creativity and innovation. It is all about balance. for sharing.
