Practical steps to 'up' your employee engagement
The most practical thing that you can do to 'up' the level of employee engagement in your organisation is to redesign outmoded employee performance appraisal practices.
Even the word 'appraisal' has negative connotations. Instead we should be talking about employee 'development.' In a time of global talent shortage, we need to create an environment where our employees feel valued. Organisations that evidence their commitment to employee development will keep their best staff. Scrapping outmoded annual appraisals with their forced rankings and 'bell curves' will go a long way to creating an environment where employees can thrive and advance their careers.
