Here are four practical steps to approach Gen AI for marketing:

  • Start small and move quickly: Pick a straightforward use case like personalizing copy or images as a way to test and learn while managing risk and resources
  • Start with a human-in-the-loop use case: Focus at first on use cases where you can more easily monitor output like content customization rather than a chatbot assistant
  • Have the right information to pass to the model: AI tools rely on the data that feeds them, so be sure your customer data is accurate and up to date
  • Establish clear KPIs and get feedback after release: Assess how it went in terms of smoothness of workflow, success of training, output quality, and campaign performance

The important thing is to jump in without waiting to see how the AI space takes shape. Better to be evolving with the new technology than chasing to catch up.
