Practical positivity

Practical positivity

Apparently today is "blue Monday", the most miserable day of the year. The holidays are over, we are fully back to work and we have the January blues.

To stay positive against this tide of negativity takes a little effort this morning so I am going to use the most well-known practical positivity technique gratitude.

It forces me to find things to feel glad about so here is my list since I got up 3 hours ago:

  • Freezing on my dog-walk - I'm burning g more calories because its cold!
  • Dreading the slow traffic on my way to work - more time to listen to my text book
  • Anxious about my work - remind myself the office is where I will be able to get a cup of tea (no milk at home)
  • Still anxious about my work - feel grateful for my co-workers as I'm not the only one stressed and under pressure of deadlines.

Of course it's the last in this list that has the most power. The power of connection and being part of a community. If you are physically at work this morning, say hi and ask how people are feeling - you are not alone.

Working From home today? Connect with colleagues in your meetings, share that you read this post today, share something you are grateful for and ask them for their positive thoughts.
