Practical lessons I've learned about live webinars

Practical lessons I've learned about live webinars

As I get ready to give a new live webinar next week, I was thinking about all the practical lessons I have learned about live webinars.

Here are a few of them...Share your own in the comments!

TOOLS

1. Zoom is an awesome platform to host a webinar because of the ability to easily interact with participants

INTERACTION

2. Most people will choose to have their video turned off. But it's okay to ask them to turn it on. Of course they will only do it if they want to, but it's so much nicer to be able to see people's faces during the event. Is the closest you can get to being in front of a live audience

TONE

3. What people want most is inspiration. Yes, they also appreciate practical tips, but what really makes a webinar memorable is whether they felt emotionally compelled to take action

CONTENT

4. It’s important to not try to cram too much. A few concepts with strong impact will get much better results for people who attend your event

CALLS TO ACTION

5. It’s also important to give people actions steps. If you just share content or inspiration without a call to action, then attendees will not see results. And seeing results should be the main point of the whole webinar :-)

FORMAT

6. Some of my colleagues give LONG masterclasses and it works great for them. However, for my audience, I have found that they like short presentations. That's why I have practiced enough so that my upcoming webinar doesn't go too far past an hour

PRACTICE

7. The number of times to practice your webinar is… as many as you can! The more practice, the better

CREATIVITY

8. It’s good to sit back and just mull over about what to improve in regard to the content of your webinar. If you just keep doing, doing, doing, there will be no space for creativity

LOGICAL FLOW

9. It’s also important to make it a logical decision to move on to the sales portion of the webinar, if there's any. Otherwise, it'll look awkward

TRANSPARENCY

10. If you're going to sell something on your webinar, it's important to alert people at the beginning of the event. Also give people an option to leave when you're about to share the details of your program. It’s always important to give people an out

SELLING

11. I used to think I was bothering people by explaining the details of my program. What I understood is that people want details. After all, they're going to make a decision whether the program is good for them or not. It’s like I was going to sell a car and I only told the potential buyer that it's a nice machine that will transport them to places.

OFFER

12. I have learned to make my offers more compelling as time goes by. Basically, if somebody is so impressed that they say, “I think you should raise the price,” then the offer is probably irresistible enough.

FEEDBACK

13. Finally, it’s always important to ask for detailed feedback 1-1. At first, people will try to be super polite and say it was wonderful. So it's best to ask for specific questions about different sections of the webinar. I always send a survey to all participants, too.
