Practical care for veterans
Unemployment is a primary concern for post-9/11 veterans. Businesses applaud active and retired military, yet fold their hands when it comes to hiring veterans.
But employers, especially health systems, have a duty to serve those who have served us.
Northwell has dedicated programs to recruiting veterans, helping them find work, and delivering medical and behavioral-health care to them and their families. And if our employees must leave the region or the country for military deployment, Northwell makes up the difference between their military pay and civilian salary.
It's the right thing to do.

5 年Michael, I agree!? When we get out, very few veterans recognize the difficulty in finding employment.? Industry has done a good job of appearing veteran friendly, but finding a position, particularly one with similar responsibility levels is basically impossible.? As someone who has had P&L responsibility in the civilian world, I can say that the reason I don't bring in vets at the same responsibility level is that they don't understand the industry and practices, so they have to work up to those positions, which is a difficult pill to swallow.?? I wrote an entire book on my transition perspective and tips to navigate the brave new world outside of uniform.?? I think it's great that you guys go out of your way for these people!? They will be loyal, excellent decision makers, calm under pressure, high performers, and excellent leaders.? With a little bit of training, they will certainly excel anywhere!??
