Practical aspect of Being in Present

This seems like a euphoria these days. Everyone is talking about the power of the present moment so is it just some passing facade or there is truth in this theory which is referred to as Mindfulness.
As per Kabat - Zinn “ Mindfulness is an awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally “. It is basically about our observation without criticism. When we are mindful, we start noticing new things around us which automatically puts us in the present moment.?
Since childhood, we are asked by our elders to learn from the past and do proper planning for the future. No one really spoke about what to do in present. Did we really miss the point here or deliberately ignored it? Maybe because Mindfulness is a way of life that needs to be inculcated over a period of time with proper training. While advocating mindfulness which only talks about the present moment what is the relevance of the past or future??
Past is the time that “once existed” and our present moment becomes our past in just one puff. So, to make our past powerful, we have to be mindful of our present which is now. Mistakes or correct action, both take place in our present and has the power to either build or break our past and future. If a mistake is done, then gracefully we should accept it and let it go and give our hundred per cent to the present moment in a compassionate way. Otherwise, we will get stuck in the maze of past precedence and keep on repeating the same mistakes. We cannot change the past that “once existed” so by letting it go and keeping our attention in present we can build our future since all actions are taken now, neither before nor after.?
We can be the Change Makers
If we dwell on our past we are simply keeping that alive which has no reality. We cannot smell a flower in our past or in future. We can only enjoy its fragrance in our present. To truly live, we should move on with the knowledge that change is the only constant thing. Every right decision is taken now and there is no time to repent over things that have already taken place. With this change, we will start truly living rather than merely existing.
