This week's newsletter is going to be short and sweet and incredibly valuable!
Not sure which media outlet would be interested in your topic?
See where your competitors have been featured in the media. Go to their website and see the logos. Ideally you can just click on the logo and go directly to the interview and see
a) What was the topic and,
b) Who is the journalist (i.e. a journalist that covers your industry.)
Do some research and see what topics that media outlet has covered related to your industry and pitch something they haven't done a story about yet. Be the missing link.
Next, connect with that journalist on LinkedIn and in the connection request, tell them your expertise and offer to be available for any future articles, segments, or stories. Follow them on Twitter and start liking, sharing, and commenting on their posts. Build a foundation so you can become a regular expert on your topic.
You've now found an ideal media outlet, your perfect journalist, and you've connected with them online to start building a relationship and become a valued expert to them. It's a win-win!
