PPP to license IP on its most innovative development yet.

PPP to license IP on its most innovative development yet.

PPP recently announced that they were ready to license the intellectual property, production, and sales of the innovative LaneAlert 2x to a new entity.

?

The LaneAlert 2x pavement marking system is an innovative directional messaging wrong-way driving countermeasure. Its effectiveness is in great part due to its road level, highly visible and conspicuous, directional messages that are within the visual cone of the aged, fatigued, and intoxicated motorists. Yet by being directional, it does not distract the predominant right-way drivers. Further, it has no electronic or mechanical dependencies and can be deployed economically most anywhere.

?

Getting the development and production effectively across the finish line requires the deployment of resources beyond PPP’s capability. “Simply put, our fish is bigger than our boat.” states the product’s inventor Greg Driskell.

?

Driskell continues, “We realized that if we are serious about saving lives, then we must make this move. Every day we delay its production, we lose the opportunity to save a life. “

Driskell believes that the LaneAlert’s potential will be better served by an organization that has the technical, production, talent, and financial resources beyond that of PPP’s.

?

Over the past decade, Greg Driskell has developed a series of road safety infrastructure devices. “I have found that it takes a lot of resources to get even the best solutions from ideation to commercialization. And the greater the solution, the greater resources are needed. And this is a Great Solution!” Greg believes that by committing to a licensing deal, the product will sooner be ready for full market distribution and begin saving lives.

With a long list of agencies awaiting the product's readiness, the pressure is on. Last year, funded pilot projects of six different agencies had to be postponed. Some were second and third-round pilots.

The primary use of the LaneAlert 2x is on interstate exit ramps, where the most deadly wrong-way crashes initiate. However, the LaneAlert 2x has near endless other areas of use such as divided highways, urban one-way streets, reversible managed lanes, and commercial parking facilities.

?

The LaneAlert 2x was the brainchild of Greg Driskell a pavement, marking invisibility expert, resulting from an employee’s tragic wrong-way driving crash that left one dead and another imprisoned for over a decade. “In a sense, two lives were lost that day.” Driskell shares.

?

PPP makes this announcement as sort of an open call for the interested and capable. There are obvious potential partners such as marking material manufacturers. However, Driskell believes there may be some opportunities beyond these obvious partners. “There are other road safety advocates and experts domestically and internationally that could be a good fit for this opportunity. “ states Driskell.

The LaneAlert 2x has two US utility patents and three international patents already issued. Further, it has patents pending covering over 50 strategically selected countries.
