Google Analytics

Reusing Google tags created via Google Ads in GA4 Properties - In addition to working with Google tags created via Google Analytics, the Setup Assistant can now reuse Google tags created via Google Ads so that your newly created GA4 property can receive website data without having to retag your site. Google Ads Editor

Google Ads Editor version 2.2 - Here are the top 10 new features added:

  • Added support for Asset libraries - Editor now supports (1) adding, removing, and renaming images, (2) assigning images to folders and (3) integrating asset library features into the image picker, for example, filtering by folder and searching by asset name
  • Built-in Notifications into Editor - Starting today, you’ll be able to use notifications to help you get the critical information you need to manage your accounts quickly.
  • Ad Schedule changes - Editor now provides a dialogue to visually edit ad schedules for campaigns and certain ad assets. Previously, ad schedules could only be changed by CSV import or by copying from another drive or asset.
  • Out-of-sync indicator - The editor will now periodically check to determine if account changes have been made since the last sync and notify you to sync them if needed.
  • Support for an optional feed label - In the shopping settings for Shopping and Performance Max campaigns, you can now choose to make the country of sale optional (allow it to be empty or cleared if it’s not already empty) or include support for an optional feed label
  • Target frequency video settings are now included
  • Video campaigns with shopping - Editor now supports all video campaign sub-types (except Outstream and Audio) via the shopping setting (Product feed) and product groups, including a Target CPA bid for Video action campaigns.
  • Additional recommendation types, including the ability to add lead form ads to get more leads (Recommendations?>?Other recommendations)
  • The "Targeting expansion" setting slider has been replaced with an "Optimized targeting" setting, which can now be enabled or disabled with a checkbox. (source)


Google Ads

Forecasting for Video Action Campaigns (VAC) - In Google Ads Reach Planner, you can now plan for Conversions, Views, Reach, and Impressions-based metrics for Video Action Campaigns. The tool provides a forecast based on your desired audience, budget, and other settings such as geographic location and ad formats. (source)

"Orders" in Google Merchant Center - GMP introduced "Orders". It will show all orders, returns, and inbox. ( Kevin Kaneria )

Feed label in Content API for Shopping - You can now manage?feedLabel?for?data feeds. The?feedLabel?field is now available in the following resources: products, datafeeds & DatafeedStatus. You can now see which countries a data feed explicitly targets in?datafeedtarget. This applies when you use?feedLabel?instead of?a country?in the?datafeedtarget?configuration. (source)

???RSA Combination Report - To optimize the Ad Group Ad Combination Report for upcoming features, Google recommends downloading the combinations report on an ongoing basis if you'd like to retain historical combinations. (source)

Target Frequency - ?Reporting in Week 32, YouTube Target Frequency is now available globally for YouTube campaigns. This released beta will help advertisers optimize towards more precise reach and frequency. (source)

Account transparency - Similar to a Change history, the account transparency log is a new security page that provides a list of sensitive actions taken on an account via the advertising console, along with the username responsible for the change.?(source)

TikTok Shop - US merchants are now able to sign up for TikTok Shop?if they're interested in selling products directly to consumers through the video-sharing app (still in beta). (source)

GDPR, Privacy laws & Cookies-less world

  • TikTok is spelling out to its European users that their data can be accessed by employees outside the continent, including in China, amid political and regulatory concerns about Chinese access to user information on the platform. (source)

Advertising news

  • PubMatic told investors on Tuesday that it expects ad spending will continue to trend down in Q4. Spending from advertisers in the shopping category is already looking flat YoY, while other categories, such as personal finance, are down 50% YoY, said CFO Steve Pantelick. (source)
  • Mark Zuckerberg shared some of the most challenging changes they’ve made in Meta’s history by reducing the size of our team by about 13% and letting more than 11,000 of our talented employees go.?(source)

Not only has online commerce returned to prior trends, but the macroeconomic downturn, increased competition, and ads signal loss have caused our revenue to be much lower than I’d expected. I got this wrong, and I take responsibility for that.

Thanks Yoann! To the last point regarding Zuckerberg's comment, ''signal loss'' is stated as the last reason for their latest moves but I think it actually represents the main one in terms of past and future revenue lost %. Quite aligned with Eric Seufert's point this week ''companies most impacted by ATT have?downplayed?its commercial impact because it represents a systemic, permanent drag on their businesses, instead blaming the vague apparition of “macro headwinds“.''
