Analytics

Google?Analytics

Users will have a temporary inability to view changes in their tagging settings when they log into Property Change History. These include Cross-domain measurements, Internal traffic and Unwanted referrals among other things that may be changed during this time period until the webstream details page launches soon! Users with the?Editor role ?are now able to mark and unmark an event as a conversion directly on the event report, without having to navigate to the configured area. (source )

He also clarifies the definition of a new user in GA4. It is based on how much time has passed since their first visit to the site. If they return within that same period, then it's considered returning and a new user could be labelled both as new user and returning user! (post )

The difference between the Standard Report and Exploration reports is explained by both Juliana J & ?Charles Farina . When you look at how Google Analytics handles data to fasten the UI, it's important to note that these two reports may not provide the same information, so be aware of those difference and make sure your needs match up!

When it comes to data privacy in Europe, Google Analytics 4 made a few changes that will ensure your information remains safe. First off the analytics software doesn't log IP addresses and "drops any sensitive data that it collects from EU users before logging that data via EU domains and servers". In addition, they provide controls to:

  • Disable collection of Google-signals data on a per-region basis
  • Disable the collection or derivation and storage of region and device dimensions

Rick Dronkers warns that, whilst It will help you to comply with the recent rulings, It also means It will impact additional metadata (e.g. device model), not only geo-targeting. (post )

DoubleVerify has become the first measurement firm to win Media Rating Council accreditation to measure video viewability across YouTube using Google’s Ads Data Hub “clean room,” (source )

Google is making it easier to reject all cookies on search and YouTube in Europe. These changes will begin in France before expanding to the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. (source )

As a way to celebrate Earth Day this year, Microsoft Ads was excited to announce several updates for the Ethical Shopping experience on Microsoft Bing. Last year it was released in England and now people can enjoy ethical shopping across North America too with English as their preferred language! (source )

Microsoft Ads has extended the deadline for creating or editing RSAs to 29 August 2022. Starting this date, only standard search campaigns can have ads created with these types of ad formats in them - which means you'll need find another way if your business relies heavily on using expanded text descriptions! Big tech giants will now have to police illegal content on their social media platforms more actively and robustly. They in fact becomes media themselves. The EU's 27 member states reached a landmark deal on the Digital Services Act early Saturday morning.

It is aimed at tackling hate speech, disinformation, and harmful online content, and in fact makes them becoming media themselves. It is now subject to formal approval by the two co-legislators. Once adopted, the DSA will be directly applicable across the EU and will apply for fifteen months or from 1 January 2024. (source )

Shopify to acquire e-commerce startup Deliverr to close the gap with Amazon. Deliverr is a common software layer to bind together independent warehouses, allowing small merchants to leverage nationwide warehouse networks and facilitate faster shipping. (source )

Reflections of the week

The pandemic has made it clear that when the going gets tough, people are willing to put up with a lot. But now, as employees see how cost-saving working from home is or experience flexible hours - there's a feeling they can't go back into "normal" times after experiencing this new lifestyle, especially if others are getting better deals. (bbc.om )
