Universal Analytics 360 restricts advertising features in the EEA (Mar 2024)

Starting March 2024, Universal Analytics 360 will no longer support advertising features like remarketing and conversion export for EEA traffic, and real-time reporting and BigQuery export for all users will also be discontinued.

New Google Marketing Platform Admin API launched.

Google has introduced a new API for marketing platform users. This API allows administrators to upgrade or downgrade properties and link Google Analytics accounts to organizations. Organization details are also integrated into the accounts list, enhancing administrative capabilities.

Behavioural modelling and consent mode recommendation.

Google Analytics 4 now flags properties with inactive "modelling" status under "Reporting identity" -> "Blended Data," potentially also targeting those with only Basic Consent Mode. Microsoft Edge announces privacy-focused ads API with enhancements over Google Chrome's PA API

Microsoft Edge is launching a privacy-preserving ads API designed to improve upon Google Chrome's Privacy Sandbox APIs.

Key differences include the exclusive use of Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) without an on-device component, support for multi-size and multi-slot auctions, and the ability to update ad creatives dynamically.

??? Deep Dive: Consent Mode V2

By?March 6th, it's crucial to implement Consent Mode to continue using essential tools like Remarketing Lists, Customer Match, Dynamic Remarketing, Lookalike Audiences, Customized "recent users" Audiences, New Customer Acquisition Goals (NCA), and more.


Who is affected?

If you conduct business within the European Economic Area / UK or your website visitors are individuals whose data falls under that jurisdiction, you may be required to implement Consent Mode. This requirement applies if you utilize Google's advertising services directly or via GA4.

Consent Mode currently affects only the "personalization" aspect of ads, which means its impact is not as significant as initially anticipated. Learn more below:

What lies ahead?

Rumours suggest that by the end of Q4 2024, Consent Mode may also impact Conversion Tracking. Although this hasn't been officially announced, Google Webinars and Google Reps have been teasing this significant conversion tracking change for some time now. (from Thomas Eccel )
