PPC expects 2 wind farms and 4 solar power plants to become operational in 2025

In its semi-annual financial report for the first half of 2024, Greek Public Power Corporation (PPC) has highlighted the inclusion of two wind farms and four solar power plants, all of which are either nearing completion or expected to be operational by 2025.

The company’s new wind projects, with a combined estimated capacity of 62.4 MW, include two units with capacities of 26 MW and 36.4 MW, respectively. The 26 MW wind farm, located in northern Greece and budgeted at 28.5 million euros, is currently under development and slated for completion in December. The 36.4 MW project, located in the Delphi municipality and budgeted at 44 million euros, is scheduled for completion by April 2025.

Additionally, PPC’s report lists four solar projects with a total capacity of 849.8 MW. Among these is a 94.98 MW facility in the Eordaia and Kozani municipalities of northern Greece, budgeted at 68.6 million euros, which is nearing completion. The company’s solar portfolio also includes a 550 MW solar power plant in the same municipalities, budgeted at 353 million euros, with works starting last December.

Furthermore, an 80 MW solar power plant, budgeted at 38.5 million euros, is planned for development in the Kozani municipality, with an agreement signed last month. Lastly, PPC is preparing to develop a 125 MW solar power plant at a former lignite mine in the Megalopoli municipality, central Peloponnese. This project, with a budget of 62.9 million euros, had its development agreement signed in June.
