PowerTech Africa 2025 To Drive Innovation In East Africa’s Clean Energy; OPEC Fund Signs $394 Million Sustainability Loan with ETC Group and More...

Africa’s energy landscape is changing quickly as the demand for reliable and sustainable power grows. While there has been progress, many people still don’t have access to electricity, which limits economic growth, social progress, and industrial development. To tackle this issue, both governments and businesses are focusing more on renewable energy sources like solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power. Kenya, a key economic leader in the region, is leading the way in Africa’s shift to renewable energy.


The The OPEC Fund for International Development (OPEC Fund) has announced the signing of a $40 million sustainability-linked loan as part of a $394 million financing package for ETC Group (ETG), a leading agricultural commodity supply chain manager in Africa.


In a landmark initiative at COP 29, the African Union (AU) unveiled the African Energy Efficiency Programme and the African Energy Efficiency Alliance (AEEA), signaling a robust commitment to transforming energy systems across the continent. The announcement, made at the Africa Pavilion and organized by the African Energy Commission (AFREC), underscores energy efficiency as a cornerstone of Africa’s sustainable development agenda.


The Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea, Inkyo Cheong, met with Karim Zidane, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, today in Seoul. Their discussions focused on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, a key objective during Zidane’s visit for the “Morocco Now” investment roadshow.
